SEARMS is a registered Aboriginal Community Housing Provider (ACHP). We have served Aboriginal communities in regional NSW since 2003, providing housing and tenancy management services to the Aboriginal Housing Office and other Aboriginal organisations.
SEARMS is in the midst of exceptional growth. We currently manage 400+ properties, operate a property maintenance crew and oversee the development of new properties. In 2020 we achieved registration as a Tier 3 Community Housing Provider (CHP).
The role
Reporting to the Housing Team Leader, the Housing Officer will deliver a high standard of customer service by providing Aboriginal tenants and community members (including those with complex needs) with accurate and timely information, managing complaints, monitoring a feedback service and identifying specialist referrals to help tenants maintain their tenancy.
- Providing tenants and community members with responsive and professional advice
- Establishing and ending tenancies
- Conducting regular property inspections
- Rent collection, review and arrears recovery
- Meeting service delivery criteria in accordance with SEARMS policies and procedures.
About you
- Experience working with the community and / or a strong knowledge of Aboriginal culture is essential.
- Reliable, hardworking, motivated and socially focused.
- Have completed a Certificate IV in Social Housing (desirable) .
- Good IT skills and adept at Microsoft Office Suite
- Sound English writing skills and strong verbal communication skills.
- Customer focused and able to coordinate and manage multiple tasks and get them completed by a deadline.
- Effective time management and organisational skills.
