Responsibilities and Duties
- Support the development and implementation of HR initiatives and systems for up to 120 staff nationally
- Leadership and delegation skills including team management, coaching, and mentorship, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team
- End to end recruitment process by preparing job descriptions, posting ads and managing the hiring process
- Extensive contracting which includes industrial award and enterprise bargaining agreement interpretation
- Create and implement effective onboarding/induction plans
- Develop training and development programs
- Assist in performance management processes
- Support the management of disciplinary and grievance issues
- Maintain employee records according to policy and legal requirements
- Review employment and working conditions to ensure legal compliance
- Assisting in the immigration process - including managing the visa nomination process for temporary, permanent visas.
- Knowledge of relevant employment laws and regulations, with a commitment to ethical and compliant HR practices.
- Establish strong relationships with stakeholders
- Responsibility and ability to manage HR budget for the department
What will help you to succeed?
- Minimum 3 years proven experience as HR Manager, Officer or other HR position (Preferred)
- Tertiary qualification in human resources management
- Demonstrated skill in drafting, interpreting and applying human resources in a medium to large organisation
- Experience in the construction or blue-collar industry (Preferred)
- Experience in HR functions (pay & benefits, recruitment, training & development etc.)
- A true HR generalist with a focus on strategic HRM and organisational development/change at a strategic level (Preferred)
- Understanding of labour laws and disciplinary procedures
- Proficient in MS Office; knowledge of HR management systems
- Outstanding organisational and time-management abilities
- Excellent Interpersonal and public relations skills, communication, and negotiation, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels
- Problem-solving and decision-making
- Strong ethics and reliability
- Contemporary knowledge of, and commitment to, equal opportunity and related anti-discrimination legislation, understanding of the principles underpinning the integration and application of provisions in common law agreements, industrial awards, certified agreements and employment legislation.
- High level of confidentiality and ability to exercise discretion in a professional manner.
- High level computer skills encompassing word processing, database and spread sheets with an ability to also quickly adapt to corporate software applications.
