Here are BRE we are seeking a dynamic HSE Advisor to join our team and champion our commitment to a secure and healthy work environment. This role requires regular travel to our regional sites (fortnightly to Bruce Rock; quarterly to Geraldton and Hedland).
Reporting to the Head of People, Culture & Safety, the HSE Advisor is a key member of the People, Culture & Safety Team and plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees by maintaining compliance with the relevant legislation and promoting a positive safety culture throughout all levels of the organisation.
KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Develop, enforce, and ensure compliance with health and safety policies as per WHS Act 2020 and Regulations 2022.
- Travel across divisions and facilities to address safety concerns, ensuring clear understanding of responsibilities among Supervisors and Managers.
- Cultivate a positive safety culture through active engagement, encouraging open communication for ongoing improvement.
- Manage Workers' Compensation claims and injury processes.
- Analyse safety data to identify and implement improvement strategies.
- Coordinate various employee medical requirements and health initiatives.
- Establish and uphold incident reporting procedures, aiding investigations and action plans.
- Develop emergency response plans, including evacuation and crisis strategies.
- Oversee completion of HSE team actions related to safety.
- Assist in developing safe work methods and ensuring employee competency.
- Deliver safety presentations and information at weekly toolbox meetings.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify safety hazards and compliance issues.
- Prepare and present safety reports for management meetings.
- Coordinate monthly drug and alcohol screenings based on company KPIs.
- Drive continuous improvement for a safer work environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science or a related field.
- Mental Health First Aid Training (desirable).
- Drug and alcohol screening officer training (desirable).
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a HSE role.
- Strong understanding of current Work Health and Safety legislation.
- Proven experience in recommending and influencing senior management in best practice and HSE processes.
- Experience in the manufacturing/engineering industry (desirable).
- Familiar with MS Teams and it’s functions (desirable).
