Design & Build has been engaged by our client, a growing Civil contractor, to find them an experienced 'hands on' Health and Safety Advisor for an immediate start on a road maintenance project based on their clients Pilbara mine site. Responsibilities:
- Coordinating safe work procedures for the project, ensuring full compliance with our Workplace Health and Safety Management system, along with relevant legislation, standards, and codes of practice.
- Continuously reviewing and updating the Project's WHS management plans, processes, and procedures.
- Providing training, consultation, monitoring, and governance to support stakeholders and ensure strict adherence to client and WHS regulations and procedures.
- Regularly reviewing and maintaining all Project Management Plans.
- Assisting in the implementation and enhancement of company policies and procedures.
- Establishing and nurturing professional relationships with stakeholders, including staff, project managers, clients, and allied professionals.
- Upholding professional standards while aligning with company objectives regarding service quality, reputation, WHS legislative requirements, and standards.
- Offering guidance and advice to leaders and workers on health and safety requirements under Workplace Health & Safety legislation, fostering a positive health and safety culture.
- Keeping abreast of current legislation and standards.
- Providing advice, training, consultation, monitoring, and governance for compliance to the Project Management team and field workers.
- Conducting planned site inspections and ensuring swift resolution of identified hazards.
- Actively promoting the Company's Hazard Identification, Assessment, and Risk Control (HIRAC) system through employee training and mentorship.
- Engaging proactively in the Project CRAW as an integral part of the Project Team.
- Conducting comprehensive incident investigations, including ICAMS, and ensuring the effectiveness of implemented controls.
- Rigorously reviewing and testing the Emergency Response & Preparedness Plan to mitigate identified risks at each worksite.
- Participating in ISO & OFSC audits.
- Executing thorough Site Comprehensive Inspections.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in WHS within Civil Construction.
- A Cert IV in Workplace Health & Safety is the minimum requirement.
- Completion of ICAM or equivalent investigation training.
- Rio Tinto inductions (Highly Desirable)
- Possession of a First Aid & CPR Certificate.
- A valid, current driver’s license.
- Possession of a White Card.
- High-level proficiency in computer applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, and PowerPoint.
- Outstanding safety awareness, work ethics, and communication skills.
- Strong collaborative abilities, facilitating effective interaction with clients, colleagues, field workers, and management.
