Hse / Safety Officer

This role requires exceptional safety leadership skills and sound knowledge of Civil Construction practices in the Water and Sewer delivery field. You will be of influence in promoting and maintaining compliance in line with BTR Excavation’s safety systems. You will be responsible for working closely with the Project Managers, Site Supervisors, and General Stakeholders, implementing the company safety policies procedures and methodologies along with QA documentation and processes.

• Provide strong leadership and guidance to the team, promoting positive Safety Culture.
• Scheduling and delivering HSE induction for new starters and HSE training for employees along with site personnel where required.
• Managing and ensuring site safety on our construction sites through site inspections.
• Conduct toolbox meetings, walk through with trades and our construction teams.
• Provide support and input with the project delivery team relating to WHS and Environmental matters.
• Comply with all QHSE policies and procedures relating to the company operations.
• Assist and give guidance in the development, implementation, and review of the project WHS Management Plan.
• Reviewing contractors’ documentation such as SWMS and SDS control.
• Conducting risk assessments and incident investigations within relevant timelines where required.
• Contribute to business improvement processes.

You will have proven experience as a Safety Officer within the Civil Construction industry and have a strong attention to detail. You will be a motivated team player with the following key attributes: 

• Proven experience in managing QHSE on construction sites..
• Relevant Work, Health, Safety and/or Environment qualifications (Cert IV or Diploma in OHS preferred though not essential). 
• Current SA driver’s license and White Card.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Great time management skills whilst maintaining high attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate at all levels.
