RUC Mining is a leading mining services provider, specialising in Underground Mining, Shaft Sinking, Raiseboring and Shotcreting projects.

With an unwavering dedication to safety, innovation and achieving outstanding outcomes, we've forged a legacy of excellence within the industry. As we continue to expand our operations, we have a new and exciting opportunity for an experienced HSE Trainer to join the team. 

This is a critical role in our business reporting to the Manager – Workforce Training. The position is predominantly based in our Burswood Head office however FIFO and DIDO travel will be required and for the right candidate, a
roster pattern can be negotiated.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Deliver engaging and informative training sessions to employees at all levels within RUC, including induction training for new hires and specialised training for existing employees.
  • Assist in the design and develop of training programs tailored to the specific needs of the RUC business, ensuring compliance with relevant Australian regulations and industry standards.
  • Assist the Manager – Workforce Training with aspects of the training environment, encompassing logistics such as scheduling sessions (where and when), participant selection (who), and delivery methods (how).
  • Ensure that training activities are conducted efficiently and effectively, considering factors such as venue availability, participant availability, and preferred learning styles.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance rates for sites, Kalgoorlie Service Centre, and head office.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to enhance the quality and relevance of training programs through feedback from employees, industry best practices and advancements in technology and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of training activities, attendance, and assessments, and prepare reports as required to meet RUC and legislative requirements.
  • Ensure that all training activities/operations are conducted with risks and hazards that are ALARP.
  • Assist the Manager – Workforce Training to regularly assess the effectiveness of training programs through feedback mechanisms, evaluation surveys and observation of employee performance and make necessary adjustments to improve training outcomes. 
  • Educate employees on RUC safety standards and procedures. This includes training on hazard identification, risk assessment, emergency response, equipment safety and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to minimise incidents and occupational health hazards, while also ensuring a safe training environment for all participants.
Required Competencies:  
  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment or equivalent. (Essential) 
  • Certificate IV in WHS or equivalent (Desirable)
  • C Class manual driver’s licence.
  • High level computer literacy especially with Microsoft office suite.
  • Working at Heights (Desirable)
  • Previous onsite experience 2 + years 
  • Flexibility to travel to site as required.
  • Underground mechanised Mining or Shaft Sinking experience (Essential) 
  • At least 5 years’ experience in underground mining.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with personnel at all levels.
