Job description

The Role:

Are you an experienced Trainer or Mentor, looking to embark on your new adventure focussing on providing support to Youth At Risk outside the classroom? If so, we have an exciting opportunity within Communicare’s Alternative Education Program (AEP).

Our AEP program is funded by the Department of Education and operates under Communicare’s RTO and helps break down barriers for at-risk secondary school aged students, who experience a range of complex issues, impacting their ability to attend mainstream school.

As our Trainer and Mentor, you will deliver certificates I-III in General Education for Adults. You will aim to support the young person to re-engage with learning and gradually work towards transitioning to an on-site environment.

In this role you will:

  • Provide safe, non-judgemental support, in an environment such as a young person’s home, local library or community centre.
  • Work one on one with students to build the skills, attitude, confidence, and abilities they need to continue to further education or employment.
  •  Support students in gaining essential life skills, through a range of external activities and referral support agencies.
  • Create a supportive learning experience to help students participate in learning modules through the Certificates in General Education for Adults.

This position will be offered on a fixed term part time basis working 45.6 hours per fortnight. This role will be located in Cannington; however, daily travel to outreach locations is required.
