Based in Sydney, the primary purpose of the HSEQ Advisor is to support safe operations across our Energy Solutions (ESOL) projects to ensure Shell Energy’s license to operate is not compromised. The position will have the responsibility of ensuring Shell energy meets WHS Legislative obligations, Company HSEQ requirements and continue our journey in developing a strong safety culture. As our business grows, we need to ensure our HSSE capability and knowledge compliments these areas in our business where key HSSE risks exist, this role is seen as a fundamental element in supporting this growth and safe operations.
As the HSEQ Advisor, you will be responsible for ensuring the health, safety, security and environmental performance of Shell Energy’s Commercial Solar Projects in Australia. You will work closely with the Energy Solutions business leaders, technical teams, contractors, and external stakeholders to implement our HSSE standards, policies and procedures. You will also be expected to participate and support HSSE improvement initiatives, incident investigations, audits and risk assessments etc.
The Role will report directly to the HSEQ Lead Energy Solutions and will
work closely with key stakeholders including HSEQ functional team members,
Energy Solutions Project Managers, Contractors site leaders and frontline
workforce.
Lead the change, from the frontline
Responsibilities and Accountabilities include but not limited to:
- Ensure all activities executed in the Energy Solutions portfolio is undertaken in accordance with the Shell Energy HSEQ &SP policy and commitment statement;
- Ensure as appropriate the IOGP Lifesaving rules are understood and Complied with both in Shell Energy and Contractor organisations;
- Provide HSEQ input and support for all works tendering related to Energy Solutions project delivery;
- Support the Energy Solutions ISO 45001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 surveillance audit and re-certification process;
- Ensure HSEQ Management and Emergency response plans are effective and tested across the business;
- Undertake site HSEQ audits and inspections across our project portfolio;
- Ensure Key Performance Indicators and targets are being met for both SEAu employees and contracts;
- Ensure there is effective communication of HSEQ related learnings across our frontline workforce;
- Deliver HSEQ training and awareness programs;
- HSEQ Assurance and inspection activities are completed and outcomes tracked in accordance with the annual assurance plan; and
- Actively participate and support HSSE Improvement Plan initiatives including but not limited to Site Leadership visits, Shell Safety Day and Shell Safety Refresh programs.
What you’ll bring
Here’s what you’ll need to thrive in this role:
- This role will ideally be based in Sydney and is expected to spend a
majority of their time on project sites across the ESOL portfolio
predominantly in NSW, VIC, SA - Have a sound knowledge and experience of WHS requirements and best practice in commercial construction;
- Demonstrated success in similar roles previously and the ability to form working relationships to drive performance improvements
- Knowledge of WHS Legislative requirements across all States; considering both the harmonised and state specific WHS legislative requirements;
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (phone and face-to-face);
- Willingness to be flexible in work arrangements recognising business
needs to deliver in a dynamic environment. This includes scope, travel
and time; and - Willingness to complete further training in core competencies for the
role and personal development.
