Benmax are looking for a flexible and capable HSEQ Coordinator to join a busy, friendly, and professional team to work closely with the General Manager.
The role is full time and can be built around the successful candidate. We are flexible in terms of work hours to fit around a busy home life – you let us know what works for you!
Our team is based in Queanbeyan (on the outskirts of Canberra), but we are open to a mix of office based and work from home once training is complete. Travel to worksites in the Queanbeyan and Canberra area may be required.

In this position, you will be responsible for the following:
- Ensure workplace health, safety and environment management principles are included in all office based and site operations in the designated locations.
- Co-ordinate, and participate in as necessary, incident investigation and reporting on and implementing lessons learned to the designated locations.
- Develop safe work procedures, identify WHSEQ training needs and ensure employees are adequately instructed, trained and supervised.
- Prepare, update and manage WHSEQ documents for designated location.
- Prepare, update and manage site specific project safety management plans for designated location.
- Ensure provision of workplace health safety, WHSEMS information and policies and procedures to all workers and interested parties.
- Coach and support senior managers to develop their WHSEQ skills.
- Consult with employees and other interested parties and ensure participation to improve decision-making and outcomes of the WHSEMS.
- Provide administrative assistance to Process Owners for the updating of documents in the Quality Management System.

About you
To be successful in the position, you will have the following:
- MUST be an Australian Citizen (essential).
- Certificate IV in WHS (essential)
- Certificate IV in Environmental Management & Sustainability (desirable)
- Certification as an internal auditor
- Minimum four years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in the construction industry.
- Current and unrestricted Australian Drivers’ Licence.
- OH&S General Induction (White card).
- Expertise in modelling and overseeing compliance with Health, Safety, Environment and Quality legislation and standards.
- High level relationship management and negotiation skills.
- Ability to support and coach managers in dealing with HSEQ issues.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
- A genuine interest and passion for working as part of a small, professional team.
