Your New Opportunity:

We currently have an excellent opportunity for a driven, passionate and hands-on HSQ Manager to join the ResourceCo Soil, Reuse & Recycling leadership team. 

Reporting directly to the CEO of Soil, Reuse & Recycling, you will play a pivotal role in leading & influencing a safe and healthy work environment for all employees – this is key. Driving the success of our workforce, you will work closely and collaboratively with all staff at all levels, to maintain excellence in Health, Safety and Quality capability and culture. 

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Manage and maintain the ISO accreditation for Occupational Health, Safety ISO 45001, Environment ISO 14001, Quality ISO 9001 and NHVR NHVS Accreditation for BFM, Mass and Maintenance.
  • Provide advice and direction on the development, implementation and monitoring of HSQ policies, plans and programs, including; HSQ targets, objectives and KPIs.
  • Conduct operational quality audits for each state operation, including completing RFI’s and Gap Analyses.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant safety and environmental legislation and standards and the provision of a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.
  • Work collaboratively with operational managers, supervisors and employees to ensure the safety system, policies, programs and practices are in place, effective and being adhered to. 
  • Be a leader in Chain of Responsibility requirements and adherence nationally, keeping up to date with legislative and regulatory requirements to update policies as required. 
  • Facilitate risk assessments, review incidents and undertake investigations; identify learnings and opportunities for improvement.
  • Analysis of statistics and other information for preparing briefing documents and reports.
  • Develop and implement training and/or awareness programs, that educate employees and promote safety awareness, including monthly safety alerts.
  • Oversee injury management and workers compensation process, including liaising with internal and external stakeholders whilst providing oversight and analysis of worker’s compensation claims.

About you: 

This role will suit an ambitious and energetic person with demonstrated experience in working hands-on with operational teams to manage HSQ and build capability in a fast-paced environment with a heavy focus on Transport. 

Your ability to engage with staff and leaders at all levels, and make a positive impact in the business through strong processes and guidelines and effective communication will see you succeed in this role, as will:

  • Knowledge of the Health and Safety legislation and specific Heavy Vehicle Transport industry requirements. 
  • Diploma of WHS / OHS (or higher).
  • Strong experience in auditing with a Lead Auditor Qualification.
  • Lead investigation training - ICAM or similar. 
  • Return to Work certificate.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including demonstrated ability to effectively consult, facilitate and influence peers and stakeholders across various levels of the organization.
  • Project management skills and experience. 
  • Good computer literacy including use of excel as an analytical and reporting tool.
