Job description

Role Perspective:

Reporting directly to the People and Culture Manager, you will support the Human Resources department by performing essential administrative tasks. This role oversees recruitment and onboarding, such as posting job ads, screening resumes, coordinating candidate communications and interviews, and managing the onboarding process. You will maintain and update employee records, prepare HR documents, ensure data accuracy in HR systems, address employee queries, provide HR support, and assist in organising engagement initiatives like events, meetings and reviews.

Alpha Electrics and Water has provided innovative electrical and water solutions for the Tasmanian industry for over 50 years.    A Tasmanian-owned business that current employs over 70+ personnel across three sites located in Somerset, Latrobe and Kingston.

You execute excellent administrative and organisational tasks with ease, and your effective time management ensures you consistently meet deadlines. Being detail-oriented and highly organised, you handle tasks with precision and efficiency. Your strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills enable you to tackle challenges proactively, even under pressure. You possess adaptability and a strong work ethic, allowing you to manage projects effectively. Additionally, you handle sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity, and demonstrate a proactive and resourceful approach to all tasks.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

Recruitment and Onboarding:

•  Post job ads, screen resumes, coordinate candidate communication and schedule interviews.

•  Assist with onboarding new employees.

Administrative Support:

•  Maintain and update employee files.

•  Prepare HR documents (e.g., employment contracts, new hire guides).

•  Ensure data accuracy in HR systems and generate reports.

Employee Relations and Support:

•  Under the direction of the People Manager you will address employee HR-related queries and provide guidance.

•  Assist in organising employee events and meetings.

•  Send out engagement surveys and conduct assist with performance meetings.

HR Projects and Compliance:

•  Support HR initiatives and system implementation.

•  Assist in organising training sessions and seminars.

•  Ensure compliance with Fair Work and labour laws.

Qualifications:

•  Diploma/bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (highly regarded)

•  Minimum 3 years' experience in an HR or office administration role, ideally in a fast-paced environment.

•  Knowledge of HR principles, employment legislation, and best practices.

•  Proficiency in MS Office, Teams and Canva

•  Police Check (mandatory requirement)
