MAP Co is seeking a Human Resources Business Partner who is passionate about fostering a positive workplace culture in the heart of Melbourne's vibrant arts precinct. We are keen to engage a dynamic and experienced Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP) to be an integral part of the People & Culture department. You will collaborate closely with the Head of People & Culture to drive forward our organisational strategies and initiatives.

Organisation Overview 

MAP Co is a state government entity responsible for the delivery of the Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation project as well as the operations, programming, promotion and maintenance of Federation Square and the new Melbourne Arts Precinct public spaces.  

Set to boost Melbourne's standing as a creative and cultural capital and to harness the immense potential of one of the most vibrant arts corridors in the world, MAP Co is delivering capital projects including the $1.7 billion Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation project that includes, The Fox: NGV Contemporary, a new gallery dedicated to contemporary art and design; an 18,000 square metre public open space in the heart of the precinct; significant upgrades to the State Theatre; and new restaurants and bars throughout the space. 

Federation Square supports a diverse mix of businesses that service residents, CBD workers and local and international visitors alike. It is proudly home to nationally significant resident cultural institutions the Koorie Heritage Trust (KHT), the Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia (NGVA) and the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI). MAP Co works collaboratively with these organisations to support and leverage a wholistic approach to precinct programming. 

About the Role 

MAP Co is seeking a Human Resources Business Partner who is passionate about fostering a positive workplace culture in the heart of Melbourne's vibrant arts precinct. We are keen to engage a dynamic and experienced Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP) to be an integral part of the People & Culture department. You will collaborate closely with the Head of People & Culture to drive forward our organisational strategies and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Partnering with the Head of People & Culture to develop and implement P&C initiatives aligned with MAP Co strategies.
  • Building strong relationships with people managers and executives to address emerging people issues and contribute to strategic workforce planning.
  • Providing expert HR advice and support through the employee life cycle, including Enterprise Agreement interpretation and advice, performance management and talent development.
  • Produce high level documentation on HR matters; written advice, summary and briefing documents, preparation of recommendations, manager presentations on workplace changes.
  • Keeping abreast of industry best practices, legislative changes, and policy updates related to employment practices.
  • Managing HR administration tasks such as issuing employment contracts and maintaining employee records.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Human Resource Management Expertise: experience in providing professional Human Resources advice to people managers and business leaders of the organisation. Competent understanding of employee and employer legislative requirements and the ability to understand, interpret and provide advice on employment legislation and people related matters in compliance with all related legislation.
  • Relationship Building: Establishes and maintains relationships with people at all levels; Promotes harmony and consensus through diplomatic handling of disagreements; Forges useful partnerships with people across business areas, functions and organisations; Builds trust through consistent actions, values and communication; Minimises surprises.
  • Initiative and Accountability: Proactive and self-starting; Seizes opportunities and acts upon them; Takes responsibility for own actions. Seeks all relevant information for problem-solving; Investigates and probes for the facts; Liaises with stakeholders; Analyses issues from different perspectives and draws sound inferences from information available; Identifies and proposes workable solutions to problems.
  • Project Leadership: Effectively lead and manage projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and scope fulfillment. Successfully coordinating with internal teams, coordinating resources, and at times external stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
  • Excellent communication skills: Prepares documentation supporting the people cycle, including employee, letters, emails and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language; Edits written communications to ensure they contain the information necessary to achieve their purpose and meet audience needs; Ensures appropriate style and formats are used; accurately conveys ideas and information clearly; understands the target audience and the objectives of the communication; Handles difficult and sensitive communications well.

Desired Experience/Qualifications:

Relevant HR or, OH&S qualifications.

Experience and knowledge in human resource management, Fair Work legislation, NES Enterprise Agreement environment, , and in researching best practice and comparison industry organisational development trends

Knowledge and experience in IR, current legislation, Modern Awards & HR best practice

Psycho/Social Risk

Infrequent to frequent likelihood of exposure to complex and sensitive workplace issues with psychosocial hazard elements (i.e cases involving harassment, bullying, trauma, relationship conflicts, mental health issues)
