The Role
Situated at a state-of-the-art R&D facility and reporting directly to the Principal Battery Systems within the Green Fleet Development team, I am currently seeking an experienced High Voltage Battery Systems Engineer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take the lead in systems engineering and provide support for the hardware/software development of High Voltage (HV) battery systems for series projects
- Conduct concept feasibility studies to determine the best-fit selection for future products, including thorough research on battery pack system and sub-systems
- Develop system specification documents and define system functions/features
- Establish system Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R) to validate features/functions at the system-level
- Lead the troubleshooting of hardware/software issues for system releases
- Oversee the integration of high voltage battery packs into the vehicle powertrain throughout the project lifecycle
- Provide support for and implement Quality engineering processes, including system-/D-FMEA, ISO 26262, cybersecurity, and resolution of field and development issues
- Resolve technical and design issues and oversee the system release of technical drawings and production documentation
- Assess the performance, durability, and reliability of mechanical, electrical, and electronic sub-components at the system-level
- Ensure compliance with project management processes by project owners to meet all quality gates and SOP timelines
- Conduct benchmarking and monitor the latest standardization and technology trends in the market to create component roadmaps
- Collaborate with various key stakeholders on all technical aspects of projects
- Provide regular updates to the Principal regarding work progress, risks, and priorities
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field of study (Master’s or PhD preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in high-voltage (HV) battery systems; experience in systems engineering, testing, and release is preferable Extensive expertise in Lithium-ion battery systems
- Proficiency in hardware/software design of Electric Vehicle (EV) systems/components (up to 1500 VDC)
- Demonstrated training/experience in automotive HV-safety and ISO26262 standards
- Hands-on experience with EV system architectures, automotive Electronic Control Units (ECUs), and control systems
- Proficient in requirements and project management tools such as DOORS, Confluence, JIRA, etc.
- Strong knowledge of automotive software analysis tools like CANoe, CANape, etc.
- Proven ability to diagnose and debug failures at the system level
- Solid understanding of systems and feature engineering processes, with project experience in Automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier settings
- Familiarity with production technology and manufacturing engineering is advantageous
