What is the role
Working from our client’s site, a school in Western Sydney, full time (38 hours) Monday to Friday, the ICT Consultant will provide support to the delivery of technical support services to dedicated clients including remedial maintenance support on infrastructure, LAN and WAN networks and implementation of new projects.
Along with this, the duties and responsibilities for the role also include but may not be limited to:
- Providing remote and onsite support for dedicated client networks and installations
- Providing technical support for the escalation and expediated resolution of priority incidents
- Testing, diagnosing, repairing, configuring and upgrading hardware and associated IT equipment on client networks
- Troubleshooting, analysing and identifying hardware and network system faults, evaluate alternative solutions, determine and implement the solution process
- Working closely with the team to ensure a client focused approach
- Working closely with clients and the team to develop, implement, improve and maintain the ICT service delivery framework and associated policies and processes
- Working with clients to understand technical requirements across the business
- Recommending and assisting with the selection of relevant technologies and products for projects
- Working with the internal team and the client to scope, plan and deliver scheduled projects
- Developing an in depth understanding of the client systems and business requirements in order to develop and implement ICT strategies
- Developing high level and low-level design documentation
- Acting as an escalation point and providing assistance to more junior members of the team
- Monitoring and reviewing daily logs and creating incident tasks where action is required
- Responding to incidences and assigned problems to meet SLA requirements
- Liaising with vendors if required
- Ensuring equipment configuration, error logs and code levels are within set specifications
- Developing and maintaining technical procedure and system documentation for the supported architectures
- Proactively improving and automating technical procedures
- Reviewing and evaluating new technologies to identify opportunities to improve client capability
- Maintaining and developing broad, high level technical knowledge and skills across technologies deployed by New Era, through self-study and internal and external training courses
- Providing regular consistent communication to clients and team members
- Documenting daily activity, through mandated time sheeting system, in an accurate and timely manner
- Participating in an on-call roster if required
Who we are looking for
While being on top of your game technically is obviously an essential attribute for this role, we are also looking for someone who has the following:
- Experience as an ICT Consultant or Systems Engineer with a hands-on technical background.
- Strong knowledge and experience across Microsoft Server technologies including Windows Server 2016 and 2019, Active Directory, ADFS, DHCP, DNS, etc
- Strong knowledge of Windows 1and other end-user technologies
- Knowledge and experience across current industry technologies, including
- Virtual infrastructure and shared storage
- Routing and Switching
- Wireless
- Backup and DR
- Mobile Device Management
- Well-developed documentation and training skills
- Previous experience in a K-12 independent school would be highly regarded
- Ability to obtain a Working with Children Check
- Takes ownership of delivery of required outcomes
- Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication and presentation skills, including the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical staff and students
- Strong customer service focus with the ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with clients, suppliers and colleagues.
- Have a flexible, hands-on approach to work with a commitment to quality service and delivery
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to think laterally, analyse and problem solve
- Personable with a demonstrated ability to work alone, or as part of a team
- Ability to work under pressure and willingness to learn
- Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology and/or Education or equivalent
- ITIL Foundation / Practitioner or previous experience working in an ITIL environment.
