Job DetailsJob Title: ICT Infrastructure Administrator & ICT Systems AdministratorEmployment Type: OngoingClassification: Parliamentary Service Level 5Closing Date: 11:30pm AEDT, 29 April 2024Contact: Greg Freeland, 02 6277 2866, greg.freeland@aph.gov.auThe OpportunityThe Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a Parliamentary Service Level 5 ICT Infrastructure Administrator & ICT Systems Administrator within Digital Customer Services Branch.The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is seeking highly motivated, dynamic, and experienced ICT professional to fill the roles of ICT Systems Administrator and ICT Infrastructure Administrator within the Infrastructure Platforms and Operations team. DPS has over 1,000 staff and provides a diverse range of services and functions to support the Australian Parliament and custodianship of Australian Parliament House (APH). These services and functions include but are not limited to, physical security; reporting and broadcasting; library and research services; catering; visitor and art services; and the provision of ICT equipment and services at both APH and at Electorate Offices Australia-wide.Who we are looking forWe are looking for people to assist in the work of the Infrastructure Platforms and Operations team, primarily in the support of ICT systems used for the broadcasting and support of Parliament, virtualised and cloud ICT Infrastructure, compute and storage, data centre administration and support.The right candidate will have a demonstrated ability to work under limited supervision, in a team environment and individually, and have proven experience in a range of different ICT eco-systems. Applicants should be able to adapt to, and embrace, emerging and changing technologies in support of the Parliament of Australia Digital Strategy, with a willingness to learn new skills through both formal and on the job training. This includes a cloud-first approach to ICT systems and infrastructure.DPS is looking for staff that positively contribute to the cultures within the Department and apply practical professional experience when working with a high performing team. Immediate supervisor: Assistant Director, Infrastructure Platforms and OperationsUnder limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the Parliamentary Service Level 5 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:1. Administration of ICT infrastructure and systems for:
a. Digital Audio Recording and Transcription (DART) System.
b. Video On Demand and Electronic Media Monitoring Service (VOD/EMMS) Systems.
c. Members and Senators Pager System Infrastructure.2. Under direction, support to the deployment, implementation, and maintenance of the APH ICT Infrastructure, ensuring systems and services are maintained within agreed services levels, and appropriate controls are implemented to provide ongoing monitoring and continuous improvement of these services.3. Contribute to the development and implementation of ICT initiatives, strategies or changes related to ICT operations, products, and services.4. Assist with the drafting and maintenance of technical documentation associated with the deployment and management of the Parliament's back-end ICT Infrastructure.5. Support the Technology Platforms and Operations team in day-to-day Business as Usual (BaU) “run” activities and the transition of “build” activities.Qualifications and/or experience in the following areas are desirable:a. Experience in ICT systems installation, administration, and support
b. Experience in Microsoft Server (2012, 2016, 2019 & 2022) Administration
c. Experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (6, 7, 8) Administration
d. Experience with Azure Cloud Infrastructure Administration
e. Immediate supervisor: Assistant Director, Infrastructure Platforms and Operations1. Administration of back-end ICT foundation infrastructure both on-site and cloud, including:
a. Data Centre Infrastructure facilities support and maintenance.
b. Physical and Virtual (VMWare and Azure) systems installation, deployment, and removal.
c. Server Operating System administration (Windows and Linux) and end point management.
d. Enterprise data protection (CommVault).
2. Provide specialist advice and support to the strategic direction, technical support, implementation, and maintenance of the APH ICT Infrastructure. Ensuring systems and services are maintained within agreed services levels, and that appropriate controls are implemented to provide ongoing monitoring and continuous improvement of these services.
3. Contribute to the development and implementation of initiatives, strategies or changes related to ICT operations, products, and services.
4. Assist with the drafting and maintenance of technical documentation associated with the deployment and management of the Parliament's back-end ICT Infrastructure.
5. Support the Technology Platforms and Operations team in day-to-day Business as Usual (BaU) “run” activities and the transition of “build” activities.Qualifications and/or experience in the following areas are desirable:a. Experience in server hardware installation/support
b. Experience in enterprise backup systems, specifically Commvault or Azure backup systems

e. Experience with Azure Cloud Infrastructure Administration
f. SalaryCurrently, the salary range for this position is $86,137 - $92,412 per annum.Conditions of EmploymentEmployment opportunities at Department of Parliamentary Services are subject to a range of conditions prescribed in the Parliamentary Service Act 1999 which include:
  • Australian citizenship - to be eligible for employment with DPS, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
  • Security clearance and character clearance - the preferred applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the level specified, as well as complete and be deemed suitable through a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
  • Health assessment - a pre-employment health assessment will be required where there are physical or medical requirements for the role.
