The Position
We are eager to connect with Business Analysts with experience in technology and systems-related transformation projects in complex and evolving organisational environments, this includes tackling today’s cyber security challenges.
The exact nature and complexity of projects will vary depending on our client engagements.
The work will typically require:
- Working effectively with project team members and stakeholders to plan and deliver project deliverables and outputs.
- Identifying, documenting and validating business, functional and technical requirements for projects, selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches.
- Investigating operational requirements, problems, and opportunities to identify and evaluate cost-effective business solution options through investments in improvements to automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes or systems.
- Working with stakeholders to identify, measure, analyse, report and communicate potential and actual benefits, business pain points, and available solutions for consideration.
- Advising on the selection and employment of business analysis methods, tools and techniques for projects.
- Critically investigating, analysing and defining requirements through application of: business, stakeholder and process modelling; data modelling, analysis, and visualisation; and quality assurance techniques.
- Communicating analysis insights to key technical and non-technical stakeholders.
As part of any role with Vescient, you will also proactively take part in internal continuous improvement activities and support business development activities.
Essential Capabilities, Behaviours, Skills and Experience

- Develop requirements from high-level through to detailed documentation, establishing the requirements baselines, ensuring changes to requirements are investigated and managed, facilitating discussions to negotiate trade-offs that are acceptable to key stakeholders.
- Facilitate effective communication between business stakeholders and technical teams.
- Develop and manage artefacts, including product backlog, detailed requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria to assist with development and testing of the solution with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Performs data analysis, provide data mapping from source to target systems and outline logic rules for required transformations
- Investigates data and information requirements across different systems and processes where there is some complexity and ambiguity, documenting gaps and recommendations Uses inputs from relevant stakeholders and technical teams to analyse and design in-system business processes, identify and recommending alternative solutions to improve efficiency, effectiveness.
- Demonstrated experience working with solution architects to document what the future solution will be and how it will impact business.
- Ability to work in both structured and unstructured projects and business environments to effectively capture stakeholder requirements and identify appropriate solutions.
- Demonstrated interest and ability and desire to flex into complementary areas of practice (e.g. project management, change management, risk management, information security management) to successfully deliver client outcomes.
- A continuously learning and improvement mindset.
Desirable Skills or Experience
Demonstrated skills or experience in any of the following:
- Tertiary qualification in IT or related field.
- Cyber security governance, risk & compliance (GRC) and/or technical implementation.
- Knowledge and experience with Cloud platforms, including those from AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud or enterprise systems (i.e. ERP).
- Practice in the use of enterprise system architecture and business process framework and modelling notations (e.g. TOGAF, BPMN, UML, Value stream mapping)
- Appreciation of various project delivery methodologies.
- Database design, data analysis, modelling and design tools and techniques (i.e. SQL, R, Python).
