This position is responsible fordelivering solutions within the scope of environmental health inthe community. This is achieved by applying developed knowledge toinvestigations, applications and approvals to achieve desiredcompliance outcomes.
Contributing to a high performingteam of experienced Environmental Health Officers and GraduateEnvironmental Health Officers, this position is responsible forcarrying out relevant duties and functions within the scope ofenvironmental health.
There are a number oforganisational partnerships that will be vital to the success ofthis role. These partnerships include colleagues across the Sectionand Council, and more broadly, the role will work closely with arange of state government compliance agencies, community groups andthe general public.
Aboutyou
Our ideal applicant willhave.
- Qualifications in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Environmental Health, Investigations or similar.
- Demonstrated experience role modelling a positive safety culture and adherence to the Health Safety Management Systems through visible leadership and exercising due diligence and management of compliance and legislative obligations.
- Sound level of investigation skills to monitor and investigate Illegal Dumping incidents.
- Sound level of record keeping and data analysis.
- General level of knowledge and understanding of legislation including the Environmental Protection Act, Local Government Act, Planning Act, Waste Reduction and Recycling Act, State Penalties Enforcement Act and other Acts relevant to the role.
- General level of knowledge of the principles, concepts and challenges faced by illegal dumping in regional areas, with the ability to provide recommendations.
- Ability to review, interpret and analyse information including legislation, technical reports, standards and policies.
- Sound time management skills including the ability to plan, prioritise and organise own work, achieve set and agreed performance and service standards and meet deadlines.
- Sound level of professional judgment and discretion to determine appropriate compliance action when work practices are available and not defined or in time pressured situations.
- General level communication skills, including the ability to engage with people from a range of backgrounds to raise awareness of evolving issues of Illegal Dumping.
- Ability to provide high quality customer service and understand customer needs, whilst professionally representing Council.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite of products.
- Current unrestricted Queensland “C” class drivers’ licence.
- Authorised Persons card (TCC) or ability to obtain.
- Asbestos awareness training or ability to obtain
