Job description

Your new role

You will be responsible for the safe administration of sub-cutaneous, intramuscular and oral vaccine, with vaccines delivered in public, school and corporate settings. Positioned within Council’s Health Services department, you will be accountable for the control and prevention of the spread of infectious diseases within Knox through the provision of immunisation, education and advice. Providing a high level of customer service, you will also maintain professionalism, integrity and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Advise Team Leader Immunisation on vaccine and medical equipment stock control.
  • Prepare medical supplies, equipment and vaccines for each immunisation session.
  • Assist with the setting up of each immunisation venue.
  • Advise parents on pre and post vaccination care of children.
  • Vaccinate clients in accordance with NH&MRC schedules and Council’s quality procedures.

This is a Casual role based at Knox Civic Centre however we can offer a range of flexible work options for the right candidate. A variety of shifts are on offer, key days of availability preferred are: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. 

This is a KCC 1.0 - 2.0 Immunisation Nurse classified role, Casual rate will be between $60.51-$62.02 per hour (depending on experience) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee. 

What you will need to thrive

The key selection criteria for this role are:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the current The Australian Immunisation Handbook; developed by Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation and endorsed by the National Health & Medical Research Council.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to relate to others both within and outside of Council.
  • Demonstrated commitment to a team philosophy and willingness to participate in continuous improvement of work practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of immunisation within a public health setting.
  • Clear understanding of immunisation guidelines concerning contraindications and emergency procedures.
  • Qualified Division 1 Registered Nurse
  • Certificate of Accreditation in Immunisation.
  • CPR Certificate with anaphylaxis component (renewed annually).
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Current and valid Victorian Driver’s Licence
