Form of workIf you are an Industrial Designer with a love for getting a brief, coming up with creative solutions to problems and have a mechanical engineering skill base we would love to hear from you. Our group is M-Elec Holdings (www.mholdings.com.au) and we are looking to bolster our design team with someone who can bring their mechanical engineering skills to help our team deliver on more products with better outcomes.
You will be involved in the entire product development process; researching, analysing, designing, prototyping, testing, evaluating, launching, monitoring, and evolving as required. You will work closely with our team, our clients, and our suppliers to design industry leading product solutions.
This role will suit someone who relishes in the process of solving problems and isn’t afraid to think outside the box. You will have the ability to look at existing products and see how they could work or look better.
- You will analyse product specifications and performance requirements to determine designs that can be produced by existing and new manufacturing facilities and methods.
- You will prepare product layout, engineering drawings and sketches.
- Develops parts or complete products from concepts drawings using Solidworks.
- Reviews, modifies & maintains the current range of products as required.
- Directs and coordinates manufacturing prototypes.
- Recommend solutions to problems and provide designs that demonstrate sound judgment and application of technical judgement.
- Participate in briefing meetings / conceptual design discussions to ensure potential technical problems are eliminated.
- Develop test regimes for products to ensure durability, reliability and serviceability that conform to customer requirements.
- Document designs by preparing BoMs, detail drawings and work instructions.
About you:
- Tertiary qualifications or similar in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong ability to translate ideas and concepts into tangible designs - creativity and conceptual thinking.
- Excellent Solidworks skills - modelling, surfacing, drafting & FEA.
- Rhino 3D, Fusion 360, NX and Creaform VX Elements, VX Model and similar will be highly regarded.
- A collaborative team player.
- Ability to quickly develop and demonstrate technical understanding of our products and methodology is essential.
ABOUT THE GROUP
The group began in Queensland, Australia with the Mobbs family’s small electrical business on the Sunshine Coast. Identifying gaps in the electrical wholesale market, Tim Mobbs designed a range of products suitable for electricians which quickly became highly demanded. After rapidly growing the founding company (M-Elec Pty Ltd) over several years, other businesses were started or acquired to serve several markets. Now, the group designs, manufactures and supplies to a wide range of industry including defence, electrical wholesale, mining, telecommunications and EV infrastructure.
Role to commence immediately.
Office based in Warana, Sunshine Coast.
