The Opportunity
Based from Hobart, this is your opportunity to join MEGT Recruitment and Management Services (RMS) Division, which enables business and communities to create employment solutions.
Reporting to Field Operations Lead, this role is pivotal in providing support to apprentices, trainees and cadets through their contract of training with a particular focus on both their physical and psychological safety while also working with employers on continuous improvement initiatives.
As an Industry Employment Consultant with a heavy focus on trade-based roles you will also be responsible for:
- Partnering with businesses and industries and finding solutions to their succession plans
- Providing opportunities to participants to upskill and achieve employment goals
- Providing solutions and pathways to participants and employers to ensure successful completion of training
- Conducting mentoring site visits through the employment relationship and maintaining accurate and detailed records
- Coordinating and monitoring appropriate on and off the job training relevant to the individual and employment situation
- Ensuring the workplaces where Australian Apprentices are placed are safe by carrying out appropriate workplace health and safety (WHS) checks and assisting with injury management or Return to Work Plans when required
- Advising on employment regarding awards and employment agreements and ensuring any changing needs and requirements are communicated
About you
You will be a proactive, empathetic, and motivated business development professional with a passion for ensuring individuals are placed in safe employment, ideally with a labour hire, GTO or AASN background including:
- Strong understanding of the IT and administrator sector (highly desirable)
- Demonstrated experience in successfully mentoring Australian Apprentices or Trainees throughout the contract of training
- Ability to provide advice and strategies to participants and host employers on matters such as absences and performance issues
- Recruitment knowledge including pooling of candidates and providing support to participants prior to placement
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of Workplace, Health and Safety regulations and policies in relation to Australian Apprentices’ site visits
- Exceptionally proven business development and networking skills, with the ability to determine and prioritise relationships, balancing short-term gains with long-term considerations
- Ability to effectively market and promote MEGT RMS to industry stakeholders including attending events.
- Demonstrated experience in effective Account Management
- Experience in the trades and/or business administration and/or IT Industries
- Minimum of intermediate level of digital literacy across multiple Microsoft Suite applications
- Relevant experience with mentoring youth would be advantageous
- Certificate IV WHS would be highly regarded
- Current driver license or ability to travel
