Corrections Victoria develops and implements policies, programs, and services to ensure that safe and secure containment of prisoners, and that seek to rehabilitate offenders by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.
Beechworth Correctional Centre is a Corrections Victoria, minimum security prison for men, located in Northeast Victoria, within the Hume Region of the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS).
About the Role:
Industry Officers are responsible for supervision and delivery of specific functions within prison industries. This includes assisting with prisoner employment, assisting Industry Supervisors with deliverables and continuous improvement, safe operating procedures and other Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) requirements, and compliance with prison industry procedures. Industry staff may be required to work in various areas according to operational requirements. The role requires leadership, maturity, sound judgement, confidence in decision making, developed capabilities to coach, mentor and motivate prisoners.
Some of your duties will include:
- Effectively using Departmental computer systems for word processing, excel and produce data collection spreadsheets, material ordering and receipting, stock control of raw and finished goods, email, appointment scheduling, internet, and intranet functions, including Oracle R12 or equivalent.
- Working closely with the locations Industry Supervisors, contributing to continuous Improvement strategies.
- Providing supervision and training to prisoners who are employed in the prisons commercial and service industries.
