Payroll Officer - Temporary Part-Time - 7 Month Contract 01 July 2024 - January 2025 (approx.)
About Us
Alpine MDF Industries is a large wood processing facility located at Wangaratta in North East Victoria offering permanent employment for over 140 local people.
Alpine’s core business is manufacturing Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF) for many uses in the construction, and related, industries and is distributed and sold nationally in Australia. Complimenting the core business, Alpine MDF has established a re-manufacturing business on the same site where core products are reprocessed into specific building products such as pre-painted skirting, architraves, door and window components and decorative wall lining panels.
Purpose
This temporary part-time position will co-ordinate the Company’s payroll functions ensuring they are timely, accurate and compliant with all Legislation, Company policies and the Enterprise Agreement, in partnership with our external ADP Payroll Services. This role, will be required to work Monday – Wednesday, 24 hours per week.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Reconcile ‘Real Time’ timesheets for preparation of transfer to ADP for processing on a weekly basis;
- Liaise with Department Managers on a weekly basis to ensure all timesheets are correct and complete;
- Review and correct any errors, ensuring application of all relevant loadings, deductions and adjustments by scheduled deadlines;
- Ensure all employees leave requests are authorised in a timely manner;
- Ensure timely transmission of bank file to finance department so payroll can be processed;
- Upload new employee information and maintain details within the ADP system;
- Maintain clock card system and distribution of clock cards;
- Provide assistance on pay related matters to employees as required;
- General weekly and monthly reporting.
To be successful in the role:
- Demonstrated experience in a similar payroll position;
- Sound knowledge and experience of payroll systems and Modern Awards / Enterprise Agreements;
- Have the ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and work to strict deadlines;
- Possess a good working knowledge of word processing, excel spreadsheet and data base applications;
- Able to work in a team environment, and take individual initiative;
- High level of professionalism, and exhibit good communication skills;
- Strong attention to detail, data analysis skills and ability to solve problems.
