 About the role

The role manages the delivery of assigned infrastructure advisory projects ranging in low to medium level risk and complexity to meet client organisational objectives. The Infrastructure Advisor supports other Project Managers and other stakeholders on the delivery of advisory projects and ensure the application of best practice principles are met.

 The successful candidate will be part of a team of specialist advisors providing strategic infrastructure planning advice for state agencies and across local and state government and contribute to the identification of prioritised and resilient community infrastructure across Regional NSW.

 This position is office based but you will be attending regular meetings and site inspections. The role is working to support other teams within Public Works and on the client-side and provides an exciting chance to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders and contributing towards opportunities for repeat and new business.

 You will:

  • Work closely with agencies and regional local government, together with their senior executive to identify infrastructure planning and flood risk management opportunities within their portfolios.
  • Work collaboratively across the sector to bring the skills together to meet industry needs in a consistent and standardised way that will ensure effective and proactive infrastructure planning and flood risk services.
  • Play a role, sometimes leading, in projects where several services lines across NSW Public Works are involved.
  • Managing positive stakeholder, industry and contractor relationships that are critical for the achievement of commercially viable outcomes for NSW Public Works and stakeholders. Supporting NSW Public Works proactively into an advisory role in infrastructure planning.
  • Support the development of the infrastructure planning service line in alignment with the NSW Public works strategic plan with a focus on excellence in service for new and repeat clients.

About you

You will be required to build senior key stakeholder relationships and liaise on key issues providing expert, innovative and influential advice in line with business objectives. Bringing enthusiasm and a people centred approach, the role requires a supportive and collaborative style to manage the team and work closely with our clients and the broader NSW Public Works business.

To thrive in this role, our ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Relevant experience in the civil engineering sector.
  • Team working experience (including remote management) and portfolio experience, with a natural inclination to be proactive and work with other staff to achieve operational outcomes in the infrastructure planning.
  • Demonstrable experience in government and/or in private sector consultancy in the delivery of significant projects within the infrastructure planning portfolios.
  • Demonstrable experience in applying innovative thought processes in delivering specialised services.
  • Collaboration, interpersonal and people skills, and experience in a role supporting internal and external clients.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with an ability to influence positive outcomes and provide excellent client service.
  • Current NSW Driver Licence and willingness to drive to remote locations, which may include overnight stays.
