Job description

Cleared are supporting the Intel Agencies are looking to speak to TSPV Infrastructure Specialist for multiple positions. In this opportunity will deliver cutting edge capabilities to Defence through a variety of different programmes and projects. To facilitate this ASD has a requirement for Infrastructure Specialists. The Infrastructure Specialist is expected to provide support to the Project Management Office (PMO) with the primary focus being on the delivery of new capability and the sustainment of existing hardware delivered under the capability project. The types of hardware involved may include servers, blade centres, network devices, transmission equipment and other related peripheral components, including PCI-e cards and media converters. This is a 12-month contract with possibility to extend. Canberra Based. Overview of Responsibilities
Demonstrated experience in Customer Service Delivery and Service Desk Operations with strong customer service focus.
Experience in upgrading firmware using several installation techniques / options on devices, for example, network switches, routers, power distribution units etc.
Experience with Systems Administrative work conducted on RHEL systems, for the purposes of commissioning and sustaining systems.
Knowledge of differing optical fibre, including parallel pluggable connectors, and advanced splicing techniques. Understanding and application of optical link budgets.
Practical knowledge of data transmission networks, MAN and WAN
Practical knowledge of datacentre design, including AC & DC power systems, cooling, access, and security.
Specific Criteria:
Plan and execute large roll outs of ICT infrastructure within project-controlled datacentres.
Undertake datacentre and / or telecommunications hardware builds / maintenance and manage the environments they are used in. cabling options include (CAT6, DACs and fibre) and infrastructure variants.
Undertake activities to transition delivered capability to operations, including asset management.
Install and configure network connected equipment and perform basic fault investigations as they arise.
Identify and assess the risks associated with project activities and develop and implement strategies to reduce those risks.
Analytically troubleshoot using device logs or fault codes.
Assist with the preparation of status reports and prepare other project documentation, including work packages, project, and support plans.
Undertake procurement activities necessary to enable successful delivery of capability. Demonstrated Qualities:

Installs or removes hardware and/or software, using supplied installation instructions and tools including, where appropriate, handover to the client. Conducts tests, corrects malfunctions, and documents results in accordance with agreed procedures. Reports details of all hardware/software items that have been installed and removed so that configuration management records can be updated. Provides assistance to users in a professional manner following agreed procedures for further help or escalation. Reviews change requests. Maintains accurate records of user requests, contract details and outcomes. Contributes to the development of installation procedures and standards.
Defines, documents, and carries out small projects or sub-projects (typically less than six months, with limited budget, limited interdependency with other projects, and no significant strategic impact), alone or with a small team, actively participating in all phases. Identifies assesses and manages risks to the success of the project. Agrees project approach with stakeholders, and prepares realistic plans (including quality, risk, and communications plans) and tracks activities against the project schedule, managing stakeholder involvement as appropriate. Monitors costs, timescales and resources used, and acts where these deviate from agreed tolerances. Ensures that own projects are formally closed and, where appropriate, subsequently reviewed, and that lessons learned are recorded.
Controls IT assets in one or more significant areas, ensuring that administration of the acquisition, storage distribution, movement and disposal of assets is carried out. Produces and analyses registers and histories of authorised assets (including secure master copies of software, documentation, data, licenses and agreements for supply, warranty, and maintenance), and verifies that all these assets are in a known state or location. Acts to highlight and resolve potential instances of unauthorised assets such as unlicensed copies of software.
Security Prerequisite Must hold either a current Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance OR have held a TSPV in the previous 12-month period (which has since been downgraded). Candidates with a current Defence Intelligence Agency recognised Psychological Assessment (PA) preferred but not essential.
