WorkSafe Mines Safety is seeking an electrically skilled and safety-oriented individuals to contribute to the well-being of all mine workers in Western Australia.
We are looking to fill two positions based in our East Perth and Kalgoorlie offices.

The role
This role focuses on improving the safety of all mine workers within Western Australia, through education, information, and enforcement activities. You will be working in, learning from, and contributing to the positive culture of the Mines Safety team. These roles fit within the wider department of over 40 inspectors across multiple disciplines.
The roles are based in our East Perth offices and the Kalgoorlie office, with regular scheduled inspections in the North and East mining regions of the state.
In this role you will:
- Travel across Western Australia with other inspectors to educate and inform mining operations of workplace safety best practice. You will do this by performing inspections with a focus on electrical activities.
- Investigating mining workplace incidents with a goal to prevent recurrence.
- Communicate regularly with the wider community in response to enquiries and workplace complaints.
- Continually learn and improve your safety mind set through the adult learning principals of experience, exposure, and training. This will not be limited to your electrical discipline.
- Participate in professional associations, contribute to WorkSafe published information, and develop a network of professionals and subject matter experts within the government and non-government sectors to improve electrical safety in the workplace
While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) within the department for the next 12 months.
Your office will be based in East Perth or in Kalgoorlie.
