Reporting to the Learning & Development Design Lead, you will work with our design team to help revolutionise the learning experiences at WesTrac. The Instructional Designer is accountable for transforming learning at WesTrac through learning innovations, emphasising instructional design, quality, and digital technologies to enhance the employee's learning journey and meet WesTrac’s Objectives and strategic direction as a Caterpillar dealership.
The role will also provide high levels of customer service to the training team members and subject matter experts to gather technical information and convert the technical information into learnable material to meet a diverse audience and still meet competency requirements. Incorporating blended learning styles to provide value-adding learning and development of content for our workforce whilst maintaining WesTrac corporate style requirements.
This position will be offered on 10 month fixed term contract.
Location: WesTrac Training Institute, South Guildford WA
Roster: Full-time / Part-time - Flexible working arrangements available
About you:
- Degree or tertiary qualifications in Instructional Design, Training & Assessment, Technical Writing, Content Development (Desirable)
- Minimum 2 year’s experience in a similar role e.g., developing learning resources (software simulation/screencasts, video-based learning, technical webinars, virtual classrooms, e-learning courses, instructor-led courses or even QRG articles and technical user guides).
- Skills in online learning development and associated technologies (e.g., SCORM; Learning Management Systems, Articulate 360 - Rise and Storyline)
- Experience in an end-to-end instructional design role that included storyboarding and implementation.
- Ability to communicate effectively with subject matter experts to ensure project delivery adheres to expectations and agreed timeframes.
- Experience producing professional content using Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.
- Initiative and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills / Excellent skills in Microsoft word. Excel, and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of technical writing best practices
- Excellent attention to detail, including quickly and accurately performing peer content reviews.
- The ability to work with branding guidelines and templates.
- Understanding of tool capabilities and limitations with the ability to select the appropriate tool for each task
