Majenta Music collaborates with schools to provide Instrumental Music education. Following another successful year, we are expanding our services to additional schools in 2024. We are seeking dedicated Instrumental Music Specialists who are passionate about nurturing the musical education of students, and are enthusiastic about working collaboratively within a team to help grow the school's Instrumental Music Program.
Part-Time Contract-to-Permanent Positions (commencing Term 2, 2024)As valued members of the Majenta Music team, specialists can look forward to permanent part-time positions following a successful contract. Part-time specialists enjoy a range of benefits and entitlements, including superannuation, paid school holidays, and sick leave. Specialists are paid a salary every fortnight, and compensated for additional hours such as ensemble rehearsals and concerts.
As a part of our team, contract/permanent specialists will be responsible for delivering weekly individual and group music instruction during school hours, facilitating group ensemble experiences, and co-ordinating performance opportunities, all with the support of Majenta Music’s Owner & Director and the school's support team.
Successful applicants will be employed by Majenta Music, and we currently have NEW Teaching Positions available at the following schools:
- Band Specialist (Woodwind, Brass & Percussion) – Mt Maria College Petrie (1+ day per week)
- Guitar Specialist – Mt Maria College Petrie (0.5-1 day per week)
- Guitar Specialist – Living Faith Lutheran Primary School, Murrumba Downs (0.5 day per week)
- Recognised tertiary degree in Music
- Current Blue Card or Teacher Registration
- Band Specialist: The ideal applicant would have experience with teaching woodwind, brass, percussion, and conducting Concert Band, along with a keen interested in developing the new Program at the College. Applicants who may specialise in only one particular discipline (woodwind, brass or percussion) are also encouraged to apply.
- Guitar Specialist: Experience with teaching Guitar and Bass Guitar, along with a keen interest in developing the new Program at the College.

Demonstrates knowledge of a diverse and appropriate repertoire that enhances holistic and enthusiastic learning in both individual/group lessons and ensemble settings. - Performance Opportunities:
Provides students with meaningful performance opportunities to enrich their musical experience and growth. - Preparation for External Exams (AMEB):
Possesses knowledge and experience in preparing students for external exams, specifically the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB). - Attendance Monitoring:
Monitors and encourages students' regular attendance at lessons, rehearsals, and concerts to ensure consistent participation and progress. - Recruitment and Student Engagement:
Exhibits the ability to recruit and maintain student numbers within the Instrumental Music Program through engaging teaching methods and promotional efforts. - Commitment to Program Development:
Demonstrates a strong commitment to working collaboratively with the Owner & Director of Majenta Music and the school to contribute to the continuous development of the School's Instrumental Music Program.
At Majenta Music, we provide relief teachers to ensure a consistent learning experience for students, creating additional teaching opportunities for instrumental specialists.
As a valued member of our team, duties involve providing relief teaching for both individual and group music instruction during school hours, and leading group ensemble/band rehearsals.
This role is ideal for specialists who may face challenges in committing to regular weekly teaching but are passionate about instrumental education. Any specialists available for relief teaching, including students currently pursuing a music degree, are encouraged to apply.
Specialists will be compensated at the casual rate, with the amount varying based on teaching experience. Superannuation will be paid in addition to the casual rate.
