The Role
A great career opportunity has arisen for a Senior Associate or Special Counsel to join our Insurance team in Sydney in the area of Professional Indemnity and Medical Negligence, supporting partner Louise Cantrill. This includes providing advice on indemnity, liability, quantum and strategy for resolution and defending claims against solicitors, medical and allied health practitioners and a range of other professionals including financial services, property and construction. The ideal candidate would have the ability to manage and assess both personal injury and non-personal injury matters. In this role you will be working with Insurance Partners who are independently recognised as experts in Professional Indemnity, medical malpractice and insurance, within an insurance team which is also independently recognised
Responsibilities will include the following:
- Managing files independently including day to day conduct, deadline management and document/evidence preparation and review in accordance with identified strategy
- Preparing advices on indemnity, liability and quantum in accordance with client requirements
- Communicating with clients both in writing and verbally
- Identifying issues, briefing experts and analysing opinion
- Preparing court documents, including statements of evidence and expert reports addressing relevant issues
- Drafting correspondence and communicating with other practitioners
- Preparing for, managing online processes and appearing in Court
- Briefing and liaising with counsel
- Business development and nurturing client relationships
- Mentoring more junior members of the team collaboratively and constructively
Who We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will have at least 6 years’ post admission experience with demonstrated expertise in the field. The successful applicant will be an integral member of a cohesive and collaborative team, with strong leadership skills and aspirations, the ability to manage, maintain and grow client relations and an interest in mentoring junior members of the team. You will have the ability to prioritise tasks, display initiative, good attention to detail and a proven history of meeting deadlines.
