The division delivers complex Integrated Land use and Transport Planning policies, guidance material, projects, studies and planning scheme amendments. Through this work, the division shapes how our places and Transport networks are designed and planned, to deliver well located housing, jobs and services in healthy communities and environments.
We are seeking to fundamentally transform our approach to Land and Transport Planning, requiring strong leadership and as such are on the look out for 4 x SES 1 Directors.

About the Roles
Director Plan Victoria
The Director, Plan Victoria is an instrumental role leading development and implementation of a new whole-of-state plan for Victoria.
The role entails collaborative engagement across government, with a focus on crafting and executing long-term strategic land use and Transport plans. The primary objective is to contribute to the realisation of a thriving and connected Victoria. A key responsibility involves spearheading the development and implementation of a comprehensive statewide plan, shaping the future landscape of Victoria over the coming decades. This plan is designed to guide the strategic delivery of more homes near transport, job opportunities and essential services in vibrant, connected, and sustainable neighbourhoods.

Director Connected Places
We are seeking an outcomes focused senior planning expert to lead strategic planning policies, interventions and complex projects to enable vibrant, connected places and growth in the right locations in Victoria.

Director, Strategic Land Use Planning
The Director, Strategic Land Use Planning will lead collaborative efforts across government entities and stakeholders to conceive and execute strategic land use projects and planning scheme amendments. The Director will showcase cutting-edge thinking, with a focus on advancing innovative approaches to support enhanced land use, housing solutions, and the promotion of high-quality design outcomes. The role will play a pivotal role in shaping a thriving and interconnected Victoria, with a predominant emphasis on outcomes that transcend specific locations.

Director Integrated Transport Advice
The Director, Integrated Transport Advice will work collaboratively across government and with other key stakeholders to lead a dynamic work program of strategic projects, transport studies, analysis, advice and plans, embedding movement and place principles in the integration of Transport Planning with land use planning and government policy in order to achieve a thriving and connected Victoria.

Position Outcomes.
We are seeking individuals who bring a demonstrated history of effectively leading high-performing teams within complex environments, showcasing exceptional leadership acumen. Bringing substantial experience in land use and / or Transport Planning, ideally with some experience in local government, you will exhibit a profound understanding and appreciation of Victoria’s distinctive opportunities and challenges and how these can be addressed through Integrated Land use and Transport Planning.
Qualifications and role specific requirements
- Relevant tertiary degree or equivalent experience in areas such as public planning, public policy or transport engineering
- A proven record of leading high performing teams in complex environments.
- Significant experience in land use planning, understanding and appreciation of Victoria’s opportunities and challenges.
- Experience at a leadership level in local government is desirable.
