Case Manager, Cassowary Coast Intensive Family Support

Cassowary Coast Intensive Family Support Service is seeking applications for a Case Manager to join the team on a Fixed-Term Full-Time (76 hours per fortnight; SCHADS Level 4.1 $41.52/hr) contract commencing June 2024 until December 2024 unless otherwise determined.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Intensive Family Support (IFS) service is responsible for building the capacity of families to adequately nurture, protect, and keep their children safe in their homes. 

Families referred to IFS are experiencing multiple and/or complex needs that impact their parenting, family functioning, and the children’s safety. 

The IFS Case Manager works with families to identify and prioritise their assessed strengths and needs using a case management framework. The IFS Case manager is responsible for the cycle of assessment, planning, implementation, and review of the family’s case plan. 

The IFS Case Manager, adopts a collaborative case planning approach, provides lead case management, and facilitates a participative process whereby families and relevant services work together to deliver effective services that provide purposeful support to families. The IFS Case Manager’s ability to work collaboratively with families and services will enable the effective provision of support that is tailored to meet individual need. 

LOCATION:

This position is based at the Community Support Centre Innisfail and will include regular travel throughout the Cassowary Coast region.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Essential Requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Services or a related field and have demonstrated skills in engaging vulnerable families OR a minimum three (3) years experience of working within Child Protection frameworks including case management.
  • Possession of an open driver’s licence.
  • Possession of, or ability to acquire a 'Working with Children' Suitability card. 
  • Covid-19 Vaccination: Engagement is subject to the person fully satisfying the COVID-19 vaccination requirement under the CSCI COVID-19 Vaccination policy.

Key Attributes: 

  • Possess highly developed communication, problem solving and people skills including the ability to effectively deal with conflict and engaging hard-to-reach families. 
  • Cultural awareness and an understanding of how to communicate and work effectively with families from different socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait lslander people.
  • Experience in consulting or building relationships with Traditional Owners and/or Cultural Liaison staff to respond to the structural barriers experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in accessing services. 
  • Ability to provide flexible hours of service provision with families, including evening, early mornings and weekends where required, as determined by case plans.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills and ability to prioritise competing demands. 
  • Excellent record keeping skills that are thorough and timely. Including strong computer skills to work effectively with Microsoft Office and associated database to produce client records, assessments, and reports.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
