As part of the team at Gisborne District Council, you'll play a crucial role in managing natural and physical resources by processing resource consents efficiently and responsibly. Upholding a high level of customer service, internally and externally, is key to ensuring compliance with plan rules and legislation.
Duties:
- Evaluate applications and process them according to relevant plans and legislation deadlines.
- Offer expert advice on resource management matters to staff and the public.
- Contribute to work programs for Resource Consent sections.
- Ensure work stays within budget and prepare reports for various entities.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Prior experience in resource consent processing.
- Sound knowledge of resource management legislation.
- Experience with mapping software and digital planning overlay interpretation.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills in a regulatory environment.
- Knowledge of the interaction between Building Act, LGOIMA, and RMA.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Experience as the reporting officer in resource consent hearings.
- Experience in District and Regional resource consent processing.
- Mentoring junior staff and Environment Court experience.
