The RoleThis 12-month contact working out of Ultimo is responsible for planning, coordinating and producing multi-platform coverage and content for major international news and events. A journalist with highly developed production and planning skills, you will be at the centre of organising and creating impactful content for all platforms by harnessing the ABC's newsgathering strength.
The JobWorking with the International and Planning news teams, you will help drive the international news agenda for tomorrow and beyond.
- Work closely with the ABC's foreign correspondents, bringing the stories of the world to Australia.
- Respond to breaking news with appropriate plans, staffing and resources to ensure platform needs are met.
- Play a key liaison role between domestic newsrooms and foreign bureaux, ensuring a collaborative approach across all platforms.
- Build and coordinate coverage plans for significant news events and support high quality original story telling.
About YouYour understanding of the ever-changing media landscape will help deliver innovative and original content for all platforms across News and Current Affairs.
You'll have:- Strong editorial judgment and demonstrable experience of decision-making about news coverage.
- In-depth knowledge of the international news environment.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, and significant experience in planning and troubleshooting.
- Advanced research, writing and production skills, with ability to inspire creativity and to deliver on audience and digital outcomes.
