Inventory Controller / Store Person

Job Summary:

The Inventory Controller / Store Person is responsible for overseeing and managing the inventory of goods within a designated store or warehouse facility. This role involves maintaining accurate records of inventory levels, managing stock movements, conducting regular stock counts, and ensuring efficient storage and organization of goods. The Inventory Controller / Store Person works closely with other departments to coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments, resolve inventory discrepancies, and optimize inventory management processes to minimize costs and maximize efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Inventory Management:

• Maintain accurate records of inventory levels using appropriate inventory management software or systems.
• Monitor stock levels and reorder supplies as needed to ensure optimal inventory levels are maintained.
• Coordinate with purchasing department to ensure timely replenishment of stock.

Stock Control:

• Receive incoming shipments, verify contents against purchase orders, and accurately record received items into inventory systems.
• Organize and maintain storage areas to facilitate efficient stock retrieval and minimize damage or loss.
• Implement and enforce inventory control procedures to prevent shrinkage and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Stock Rotation and Disposal:

• Implement FIFO (First In, First Out) and FEFO (First Expired, First Out) principles to ensure proper rotation of stock and minimize waste.
• Identify and dispose of obsolete or expired stock items in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Documentation and Reporting:

• Generate regular reports on inventory levels, stock movements, and any discrepancies for management review.
• Maintain accurate records of inventory transactions, including receipts, withdrawals, and adjustments.
• Inventory Audits and Reconciliation:

• Conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile with inventory records to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
• Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or variances in inventory counts.
• Communication and Collaboration:

• Liaise with procurement, sales, and production teams to coordinate inventory requirements and ensure seamless flow of goods.
• Communicate effectively with suppliers regarding stock orders, deliveries, and quality issues.

Qualifications and Skills:

• HSC or equivalent; additional education or certification in inventory management or related field is a plus.
• Proven experience in inventory control, stock management, or warehouse operations.
• Proficiency in inventory management software or systems; experience with ERP systems is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and data entry.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy items.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to inventory management and warehouse operations.

Working Conditions:

The role typically involves working in a warehouse or storeroom environment, which may include exposure to varying temperatures and physical exertion.

May require occasional overtime hours to accommodate inventory counts or special projects.

Operating forklifts or other material handling equipment; appropriate training and certification required.
