Our Branch
The Compliance and Regulatory Services (CARS) Branch contributes to the health, safety and amenity of Brisbane through a range of licensing and best practice regulatory services. These services are related to environmental health, land use and built environment, animal management, asset use and the natural environment, to maintain the liveability, vibrancy and accessibility of Brisbane.
The Role
Two permanent Investigator roles are currently available within the CARS Enforcement Team. This multidisciplinary team works together to deliver compliance and provide the highest level of community value to Brisbane residents. As an Investigator, you will join the team to:
- conduct compliance assessments and investigate alleged breaches of legislation regulated by CARS, issuing relevant notices as required
- prepare reports and other documentation on investigations to a high standard
- prepare and present evidence in legal proceedings as required; and
- provide advice and recommendations to internal business areas on compliance and regulatory matters
The legislation that you will be working within to conduct investigations and compliance assessments include: the Building Act 1975, Planning Act 2016, Food Act 2006, Environmental Protection Act 1994, Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Act 2008, Public Health Act 2005 and local government laws.
To be a successful Investigator, you will be committed to delivering the highest standard of investigation and prosecution brief development through the consistent application of best practice, operational excellence, transparent and reliable customer focused solutions to enable, protect and lead the community.
A balance of good governance and stakeholder engagement is also key. Our customer network is broad and will see you liaising regularly with internal and external customers, requiring matured interpersonal and well-developed written communication skills to achieve quality customer focused outcomes.
