Osborne Richardson are delighted to be working alongside Lockyer Valley Regional Council to source an Illegal Dumping Investigations/Compliance Officer. This role will be based in Lockyer Valley and will extend until end of June 2025, with a high possibility of being extended even further.
In this role, you will find yourself leading Illegal Dumping Investigations, surveillance and compliance activities, on behalf of Council; and to promote education and awareness of the environmental and social impacts of Illegal Dumping. You will hold a great deal of autonomy in how you will approach these tasks and innovation is very much encouraged.
On any given day, you will find yourself undertaking a range of activities, including:
- Conducting surveillance of areas known as Illegal Dumping hotspots.
- Investigating complaints of Illegal Dumping and littering in a timely and efficient manner, including undertaking enforcement and organising clean up arrangements.
- Interpreting legislation and preparing correspondence and records in accordance with adopted policies and procedures.
- Compilation and presentation of reports to Council in respect to the project progress and key milestones.
- Provision of proficient and effective technical support to various teams within Council in order to achieve the program aims and objectives.
- Create and implement awareness and education campaigns, including undertaking presentations to both internal and external stakeholders; and work with Council’s Communications team to provide suitable content for advertising, signage and media articles.

- Previous experience in the facilitation of community engagement to diplomatically deal with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong investigative, problem solving, and a proven ability to interpret legislation.
- Demonstrated organisational skills, including prioritising and organising work and meeting goals and objectives.
- Well-developed communication skills including the demonstrated ability to prepare clear, concise and accurate reports and make recommendations with solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, communicating effectively at all levels of the organisation.
- Strong computer skills and experience in Microsoft packages including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Previous experience working with the nuisance requirements of the Environmental Protection Act 1994 is highly desirable.
