Job description

The Queensland Revenue Office (QRO) currently has multiple permanent full-time vacancies working as AO4 Investigations Officers, based in our Brisbane office.

Working in a collaborative team environment, this position will see you conduct and contribute to investigations and audits to ensure compliance with Queensland’s revenue laws. You will also assist taxpayers through information and education to understand and meet their obligations.

Vacancies currently exist across 2 QRO Audit and Investigations Divisions, however similar roles may be filled working across other divisions and revenue lines in Brisbane. These divisions conduct risk assessments and compliance activities across duties, grants, payroll tax, betting tax, royalty and land tax.

The Audit and Investigations - Royalty, Land Tax and Complex (RLC) division carries out land tax and royalties compliance activities, including audits and investigations. The Complex Investigations & Enforcement Branch is responsible for audits and investigations in complex structuring arrangements, avoidance or evasion including phoenix activities.

The Audit and Investigations - Payroll Tax, Duties and Grants (PTDG) division carries out payroll tax, duties and grants compliance activities, including audits and investigations.

As an Investigations Officer, you will analyse, interpret and apply relevant legislation on revenue and taxation matters, make assessments and exercise delegations to deliver service to our clients. You will also analyse risk and take action to recover revenue where necessary.

To be successful in this role you will need:
• demonstrated resilience, patience and persistence in dealing with clients and making insightful decisions to resolve complex problems.
• proficiency in writing letters and reports, demonstrating attention to detail and clarity of information.
• demonstrated capability to analyse, interpret and apply legislation and/or policy or critical thinking to achieve successful outcomes.

There are no mandatory qualifications needed for this role, however, relevant qualifications are highly regarded e.g. law, business or accounting.
