Irrigators are responsible for the operation of irrigation systems in substrate and soil grown berry blocks. This role combines operational and maintenance task of fertiliser mixing, irrigation control systems and irrigation lines with regular monitoring of plant water use and plant health.
Primary Objective
To supervise and support the irrigation team and the operation ofirrigation systems in substrate-grown berry blocks. This role combinesoperation and maintenance of fertiliser mixing, irrigation control systems andirrigation lines with regular monitoring of plant water use and plant health.The duties and responsibilities of this job are outlined below and may varyfrom time to time in line with the needs of the business and as directed byyour manager.
Key Accountabilities
- Planthealth
- Ensureoptimal operation of irrigation systems through regular monitoring and maintenance
- Manage fertiliser stocks, lifting and movingfertiliser bags, maintain fertiliser mixing and dosing equipment.
- Guide irrigators, with the help ofhorticulturalists, to ensure maximum plant and system health
- Scout blocks for irrigation and plant healthissues; spot fix and report major issues to the Farm Manager and/orhorticulture team
- Labour/Roster planning
- Ensuring system maintenance is on track and complete
- Perform miscellaneous maintenance taskswithin substrate blocks as required and/or directed, completing check sheetsand records for work performed to ensure tasks are completed in a timely andaccountable fashion.
- Otherreasonable duties as required

Experience
- Agricultural/horticulturalexperience is desired but not a requirement.
- Previousexperience in a supervisory role.
