The University of Queensland Student Union (UQU) is a not-for-profit organisation, independent of the University of Queensland that supports and represents the student community by actively promoting a positive, fun, healthy and supportive student Experience. This is a unique organisation, operating numerous food, beverage, entertainment and retail outlets on UQ campuses, as well as Student Advocacy and Support, and student clubs and societies at St Lucia and Gatton Campuses. UQU employs over 150 staff, a percentage of whom, being elected students, change annually.
The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic IT Help Desk Support Officer to join UQU on a casual basis. Reporting to the IT Systems Network Engineer, and working alongside the outlet supervisors, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing first level technical IT support by investigating, resolving, configuring and documenting problems.
- Working closely with senior tier technical specialist to ensure quality service to customers. Meeting timeframes and prioritising
- Providing a high level of customer service to all users and stakeholders via the Service Desk or face-to-face.
- Providing first level support and maintenance for Windows Operating systems including hardware, software and point of sale (POS) systems issues and problems.
- Maintaining an organised, stable, and secure operating environment for all assigned systems in the organisation.
- Ensuring all User management and administration are managed as per established processes in a windows server environment.
- Addressing, resolving and logging all basic incidents and requests.
- Liaising with vendors pertaining to repairs of computers as required.
- Recording and maintaining and accurate electronic documentation of IT Products and procedures.
- Assisting the IT Systems Network Engineer with developing and maintaining IT operating policies and server documentation for the IT Infrastructure.
- Acting as back-up to the IT Network Engineer in case of emergency.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in a similar role or experience in IT Help Desk.
- Experience with MS Office 365 with a strong Knowledge in Windows 10 at desktop level
- Ability to trouble shoot hardware and install software upgrades.
- Capacity to work independently with minimal direction and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, often with competing deadlines, and deliver high quality outcomes.
- Experience in mobile device management
- Experience with Level 1 end user support.
