About the role
The Master Data Management Project is expected to provide both a holistic framework for SPA to manage its data using leading practice, meet its legislative obligations and achieve sustainable interoperability/master data management.
Reporting to the IT Manager, the MDM Project Manager will provide a project management service to the MDM Project at Southern Ports Authority. The role requires strong organisational skills and excellent communication abilities to engage with end-users, stakeholders and vendors to develop a vision for master data management for SPA and implement related people, process and technology solutions. The MDM Project Manager will oversee all aspects of project delivery of the Master Data Management (MDM) Project.
In addition, the MDM Project Manager will have great focus on teamwork, communication, safety and ensure that the company’s technology systems are governed, maintained and functional. The Project Manager is required to positively influence stakeholders to support engagement and change adoption
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and lead the MDM Project and associated dependencies.
  • Preparation of project documentation.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders (CIO, IT Manager, business functional representatives) to define business requirements, performance expectations and service levels.
  • Ensure Project outcomes are sustainable via
  • Maintain project schedule and communicate out milestones on a regular basis.
  • Track decisions and scope changes in a dedicated decisions register.
  • Raise project risks and issues.
  • Participate in SPA technology governance
  • Track and coordinate risk mitigation plans.
  • Support and champion change management plans required to support sustainable outcomes from the MDM Project.
  • Work with external vendors and internal business functions to develop implementation plans to suit the specific needs of each function.
  • Work with stakeholders to develop a vision for the project.
  • Ensure prioritisation criteria are applied and agreed with the CIO and IT Manager so that the data related strategy and MDM solutions align with future SPA’s technology direction.
  • Liaise with relevant internal and external stakeholders and suppliers as required.
  • Manage vendors, including escalations and relationships when required.
  • Other duties as reasonably requested to achieve the wider objectives of IT in Southern Ports.
Experience and Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree; or equivalent work experience
  • Relevant project management qualifications
  • Three to five years of project management experience
  • Project Planning
  • Master Data Management solutions experience
  • Change management and positively influencing change adoption
  • Project Organisation
  • IT systems knowledge and experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to speak to technical-level staff and summarize communications for executive consumption.
  • Working knowledge of data architecture, master data management and associated leading practices.
  • Excellent project management skills, with demonstrated track record.
  • Ability to analyse, understand and effectively communicate between business requirements and technical design and implementation.
  • Working knowledge of applications being implemented.
  • Problem-solving, negotiation and decision-making skills to influence management as well as internal and external partners.
  • Works well with others in an integrated team environment.
  • Self-motivated and a problem solver.

Requirements
To be eligible for this 2-year fixed term full-time role, applicants must provide proof of Australian citizenship or permanent residency and be based in Perth.
The successful applicant must have a current WA driver’s licence, be able to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Access Card and undergo a pre-employment medical assessment including drug and alcohol testing.
