In this role, you'll:

  • Join the high performing IT Client Engagement & Delivery Team responsible for delivering the high profile, Tier 1 Train Crewing Operations Planning System (TCOPS) program for Sydney Trains and Transport for NSW. This program will provide end to end Rostering, Scheduling and Day of Operations capabilities for our Train Crew and the teams who support them day to day. You will help transform the management of rostered frontline teams via the successful delivery of a digital, scalable, reliable, readily accessible, and high performing application that is fit for purpose.
  • Contribute to the delivery of a technology solution that is critical to achieving the realisation of significant strategic outcomes and opportunities for Sydney Trains clients and the travelling public of NSW alike. You will be instrumental in collaborating and leading multi-disciplinary technical teams to co-create innovative and transformative digital workforce and planning solutions that will play a pivotal role in shaping the of Sydney Trains’ Day of Operations and the TfNSW Technology landscape.
  • As a key coordinator and “face of IT to the business” you will work alongside the IT Program Delivery Lead to oversee and deliver the IT scope of work that supports the successful implementation of this game changing transformational program within clearly defined scope, quality, time and cost constraints and provide expert advice to facilitate the delivery of strategic priorities, drive efficiency and ensure positive business and customer outcomes.
  • Collaborate, build trust and influence a wide range of internal and external stakeholders (including variety of technology teams across the organisation) to deliver scope of work and to foster and sustain trusted and productive working relationships.
  • Provide leadership for a variable number of direct and indirect delivery team reports in a matrix reporting line context, to deliver objectives and facilitate ongoing professional development, team wellbeing and engagement.

Fixed Term, Full time opportunity to March 2026 | Hybrid Work – WFH mixed with 2-3 days/week attendance either at Burwood Home Office or flexibility to travel across various Transport for NSW and Sydney Trains locations across the Sydney Metropolitan area.

About you

An accomplished and ambitious IT Project / Program Management and Delivery professional, you’re experienced in working on large scale digital transformational programs and/or projects and seek your next challenge.

You possess:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in similar IT project / program delivery roles overseeing the execution of end-to-end Program life cycle activities including the gathering of requirements, architectural options analysis, and the design, building, testing and deployment of technology solutions as required, in the context of Waterfall, Hybrid and Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Extensive experience in successfully leading technology delivery teams and projects / programs within the context of a complex, politically, industrially, and commercially sensitive organisational environment.
  • Ability to build trust, influence and communicate effectively on strategic and operational matters with senior stakeholders, vendors and team members at all levels, applying a commercial and customer centric mindset to delivery of the technology scope of work. Superior facilitation and presentation skills and the ability to readily translate complex or technical concepts for non-IT audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare timely and accurate project / program performance reports that will be relied upon by governance forums, Senior Executives and Sponsors in their decision making.
  • Solid background in managing project / program risks and issues and sound judgement in escalating matters as required.
  • A proven track record of delivering projects / programs consistently within the approved scope, budgets and timeframes and in line with the quality expectations of stakeholders and sponsors.
  • Proven record of effectively engaging with challenging stakeholders at all levels across multiple organisations and divisions.
  • Strong collaboration skills and a proven ability to bring diverse teams and individuals together to successfully deliver to common goals.
  • Tertiary studies and/or certifications relevant to the discipline
