The NLC has several vacancies within our Partnerships and Enterprise Development Section that we are currently recruiting for:
1 x Senior Joint Management Officer (NT Parks) based in Darwin
1x Senior Joint Management Officer (Kakadu) based in Jabiru
1 x Joint Management Officer (Kakadu) based in Jabiru
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.These positions play a key role in implementing the Northern Land Council's (NLC’s) statutory functions and obligations in representing the interests of Traditional Owners (TOs) in jointly managed NT Parks and Reserves and Commonwealth (Kakadu) National Parks within the NLC region. These roles will work closely with TOs to achieve positive outcomes from the Joint Management arrangements that are in place, through recognising, valuing and incorporating Aboriginal culture and knowledge into the decision-making processes and land management practices. The key duties of the position include:
Supporting Traditional Owners and other affected Aboriginal people to be part of meaningful Parks planning and management processes across NT and Commonwealth Parks and Reserves.
Provide advocacy, advice and assistance to Traditional Owners and other Aboriginal people in relation to park management functions.
Assist Aboriginal members of the Boards and Committees to effectively participate in meetings and other decision-making processes.
Coordinate NLC's technical advice and support NLC Legal, Anthropology and Regional Development Branches to undertake consultations where needed.
Assist in the assessment of external reports and changes to Government policy and Legislation affecting Aboriginal rights and interests in parks and other protected areas.
Represent the NLC at meetings and forums as required.
EligibilityWhat you will Bring:
A passion for working with Aboriginal people to assist them in representing their rights and interests, in jointly managed parks and reserves.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with an ability to effectively liaise, negotiate and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
The ability to engage in a culturally competent and appropriate manner.
Current C Class Drivers Licence and the ability to travel remotely via 4wd or light aircraft.
As we have advertised for Multiple Vacancies at different levels, we have attached a generic duty statement below, which provides a basic overview of the key responsibilities and accountabilities expected across the team. It further outlines the essential criteria that is needed at each level.NotesBase salary for Joint Management Officer with minimum three (3) years practical experience commences at $78,724 per annum.Base salary for Senior Joint Management Officer with minimum five (5) years practical experience commence at $95,106 per annum.
In addition to the base salary you will receive:
14% superannuation;
District allowance starting at $2,539 per annum
Upon completion of 12 months of service an Annual airfare with a net (in hand) value of $2,724;
Generous leave entitlements such as 5 weeks annual leave, leaving loading, 18 days personal leave, and paid Christmas close down;
Salary packaging benefits of up to $15,900 and additional Meal Entertainment and Holiday Accommodation benefits up to $2,650 per year.
