This is a full-time permanent position for The Chainsaw, based out of Pedestrian Group HQ in Surry Hills, Sydney.

Reporting to the Managing Editor, the job will focus on creating everything from daily news hits to larger features, and video and social content that will engage and grow our audience.
This role calls for someone with a deep understanding of online trends and culture in the future tech space.
As a journalist, you will be required to:
- Write and produce written articles and social media content on everything from daily news hits to larger features and exclusives
- Work as part of a close-knit editorial team, pitching in where needed to ensure our audience gets the best coverage on the topics important to them
- Maintain our in-house style guides
- Meet regularly with key contacts to build relationships, secure editorial exclusives and ensure that the brand remains at the forefront of the future tech community
- Keep fully abreast of the future tech news cycle to ensure that our coverage is timely, informed and unique
- Monitoring site traffic and performance to make informed decisions on how to grow audience reach
Qualifications
The successful candidate will:
- Demonstrated experience in, and passion for, future tech with a finger firmly on the pulse of the latest news and developments
- 3+ years of experience creating digital content
- The ability to generate unique and brilliant content ideas across a wide variety of subjects
- A flair for storytelling and a proven track record of identifying trends and topics to cover and the best way in which to write and engage with an audience
- Highly skilled at building stories and editing at speed within a CMS
- Strong understanding of SEO
- An excellent eye for detail
- Tertiary qualification in journalism or a related discipline
