Quinn Allan is proud to partner with a dynamic organisation located on the outskirts of Melbourne's CBD who are seeking a dedicated Accounting Assistant to join their finance team. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, eager to learn.
About the Position
The Junior Accountant will play a pivotal role within the finance team utilising their knowledge surrounding payroll, reporting & reconciliations. Broadly speaking the duties of the role include:
- Assist with the month-end close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Maintain monthly general ledger, subsidiary ledgers, and perform inter-entity loan transaction reconciliations and account reconciliations.
- Prepare and ensure timely completion of bank reconciliations.
- Handle bookkeeping functions including day-to-day financial transactions, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Assist with payroll functions including monthly payroll and employee expense reimbursement processing.
- Help prepare monthly cash flow statements and budgets.
- Liaise with external service providers and government agencies such as tax consultants and the ATO.
- Perform other ad-hoc and general accounting tasks as assigned.
Suitable candidates will have a combination of the following experience and skills:
- Degree level qualification or currently studying towards completion.
- Enrollment in or intention to start CPA or CA programs is advantageous.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an accounting firm or industry.
- Good understanding of accounting principles.
- Proficient in MYOB, XERO, and Microsoft Excel.
- Great attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and be a positive team member.
- Australian citizen or permanent resident.
