The Role:
Mintwell is looking for a diligent Junior Accountant to work closely with the Senior Corporate Accountant and provide support to the accounting department by managing daily accounting tasks. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in accounting principles, be detail oriented, have strong problem- solving skills, work comfortably under pressure and deliver quality work on tight deadlines. Top candidates will have an outstanding ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and document internal financial process, recommending changes as needed
- Design financial reports and prepare accurate and supported month-end journals
- Create budgeting templates and analyse financial information pertaining to statements of operations, assets, liabilities and capital
- Be responsible of payroll functions, client invoicing and sales commission calculations
- Prepare cash flow, income tax returns and financial statements for different entities
- Reconciliation of accounts including bank statement, credit card, inter-company transactions, superannuation, asset register and retention
- Exposure to management accounting function including budgeting and forecasting
- Attend industry events, client meetings and conferences
- Manage accounts emails and queries from internal and external stakeholders.
- All other duties as assigned
Skills and Experience:
- Degree qualified in Accounting or related discipline with 2-3 year's experience in similar role
- Sound understanding of M.Y.O.B. and XERO
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritise workload to meet set deadlines
- Proactive, adaptable and solutions orientated approach with a drive to succeed
- Excellent report writing, communication and IT skills
- Meticulous attention to detail with strong organisational skills
- Analytical and innovative problem-solver with good decision-making skills
