The opportunity:
Join the MCRI Inflammatory Origins Group as a Research Assistant (Data Analyst) and make a difference to child health!
We are currently seeking a dedicated and talented Junior Data Analyst or Biostatistician to join our Inflammatory Origins research group as a Research Assistant on a full-time basis. Initially, the position offers a one-year contract with the potential for extension.
As a vital member of our team, you will bring your statistical and data processing expertise to various research projects under expert supervision. Your responsibilities will include contributing to the design, analysis, and reporting of longitudinal observational cohort studies and to the development of research protocols, grant proposals and scientific publications.
The position will suit someone who:
- Has an interest in childhood health and development and is keen to integrate biological and highly dimensioned molecular data into traditional epidemiological frameworks
- Has demonstrated meticulousness in data management
- Has experience in public health, epidemiology, and/or biomedical research
- Has experience in writing statistical analysis code in R and/or Stata

Your responsibilities include:
Contribution to research projects (with supervision) as a junior biostatistician, including:
- Perform data cleaning, data processing, development of statistical code, and analysis
- Assist in the preparation of research outputs, including graphical and tabular presentations, for reports, meetings, publications, seminars, and grant applications as appropriate
- Development of research protocols
- Preparation and implementation of statistical analysis plans
What we need from you:
- A degree in a relevant discipline, with at least partially completed qualifications at Masters level or higher, in applied statistics or biostatistics, epidemiology, data science, or a closely related field
- Excellent statistical computing skills, especially familiarity with the R statistical software (or demonstrable capacity to develop this quickly)
- Has experience in public health, epidemiology, and/or biomedical research
- Has understanding of fundamental epidemiological concepts
