Job description

About the company

Milanote is a web-based tool for organising creative projects. It's used by designers, writers, filmmakers and other creative professionals from companies like Facebook, Apple, Dropbox, Google, Adobe, Sony, Nike, etc. Check out this playlist on YouTube to see some of the ways people use the product.

We launched seven years ago and have over 5 million registered users. We've reached #1 on Product Hunt (three times!), the front page of Hacker News and have hundreds of positive reviews online. Most of our growth is from word of mouth.

We're a small team (20 people in total) but despite that we've more than doubled our revenue every year since we launched. We're also fully profitable, which means working at Milanote is a chance to get the benefits of working at a startup without the risk.

About the role

We're looking for a junior marketer to join our growth team and to drive signups through our YouTube programme.

Why YouTube? Due to the visual nature of Milanote, we've found that this channel offers an unmatched opportunity to introduce our product in engaging and inspiring ways. This role involves finding great YouTube channels, sponsoring creative content that introduces new audiences to Milanote, and to ultimately generate signups for the product.

Here are some examples to give you an idea of the campaigns you'll be working on with creators:

Naturally, we're seeking someone with a keen interest in YouTube and online culture, coupled with strong commercial awareness. Ultimately we want our content to celebrate creative people in the same way Nike celebrates athletes. It's a very exciting time to join us on the path towards that goal.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for executing our YouTube growth programme, helping to scale and optimise this key marketing channel.

The process-driven nature of the role requires strong organisation, attention to detail, project management skills, and experience working within spreadsheets is essential.

You will be digitally savvy, with a well-rounded understanding of marketing fundamentals, and excited at the opportunity to gain deep expertise in this rapidly evolving channel.

There are four key areas of responsibility:

1. Creator sourcing

A key part of the role is to develop a pipeline of opportunities to work with great content creators. You will work closely with our global network of managers and partners to facilitate access to creators, whilst also identifying and approaching creators directly.

You will become an expert at identifying opportunities to reach our core creative segments and will need tenacity, good communication skills and commercial awareness to turn these opportunities into successful campaigns.

2. Campaign production

You will guide creators through the production process ensuring that they have everything they need to produce the perfect Milanote integration within their videos, regardless of segment or format.

You'll be great at delivering clear, constructive feedback to creators, and proactively providing campaign status updates to the wider Milanote team.

3. Reporting and analysis
You will be responsible for collecting accurate metrics for your published campaigns, and documenting the results that feed into our prediction models.

You will be motivated by the opportunity to dig into the data to understand performance better, and then use this data to make informed decisions in the future.

4. Optimisation and experimentation
The work is never complete, and our processes can always be improved. We expect you to be continually optimising to improve the current process, as well as running new experiments to uncover additional growth opportunities.

Requirements

The main requirement for this role is a positive 'can-do' attitude. The role offers an opportunity for someone to learn about the fundamentals of marketing from the ground-up in a supportive team environment.

To succeed you'll need a strong process-driven mindset, alongside excellent communication and organisational skills as you manage campaigns from start to finish.

Benefits

  • This is a Melbourne based role, but you can choose your own mix of remote and on-site work (most people do a couple of days per week in our calm, plant-filled CBD office).
  • Flexible working hours. We're very flexible about things like school drop off, condensed workweeks, flexible start and finish times etc.
  • Fantastic and flexible parental leave policies. Take 12 weeks paid leave, and up to 40 weeks unpaid.
  • Equity in the company via our employee share options plan.
  • Generous employee equipment budgets. Choose tools that will enable your best work (standing desks, extra monitors etc).
  • Self-driven training & education budget. Take the time you need to learn and grow your skills.
Why work at Milanote?

The best way to get a feel for what we're like to work with is to take a look at our company values at https://www.milanote.com/values

  • A product that people love. Millions of users genuinely love the product, and we receive dozens of positive messages from them every day. This really makes a difference to how it feels to come to work every day.
  • A huge focus on quality, design and user experience—think Apple-level attention to detail. We really sweat the details.
  • A super transparent work environment. All of our internal metrics, numbers and graphs are shared with the whole team. You'll get an insight into all the departments and what it takes to run a successful company.
  • A small team of friendly, approachable and relaxed people who are all great at what they do. We hardly have any meetings or video calls (which means lots of time for focus and deep work). We don't work crazy hours. We don't get drunk on Fridays. When we're in the office we mostly eat lunch together. Every now and then we go out together for a fancy dinner (but you don't have to come if you don't want to).
Diversity and inclusion

Milanote is used by an incredibly diverse set of users from all over the world and we're building a team that reflects those users, and can best understand their needs. We believe that diverse teams produce the best work, and are encouraging candidates from all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. If you require accessibility assistance at any stage of the process, please let us know.

Employment basis and application process
  • This is a full time Melbourne-based role.
  • When applying, along with submitting your CV, please take care to answer the question "Why you're interested in this role and working at Milanote".
