Due to growth, we are seeking Junior Mechanical Drafter to join our team of dedicated and skilled professionals. As a key member of the Control Room business, you will be part of a cross skilled team group that consults, designs, supplies & installs, and provides after care of control rooms.
We support all major industries including Energy, Resources, Infrastructure, Emergency Services, Transport, Defence and Space.
THE ROLEThe role is based in Perth and will be guided by our senior designer with formal reporting lines going directly into the General Manager. You will be able to grow your skills in SolidWorks and CAD tools while learning how to interpret and document how design works meet or exceed industry standards relevant to this space. If you have the technical skills, we can share with you our industry know-how.
CADwalk consults, designs, manufactures, deploys, and services its products. What this means for a designer is that you can take ideas all the way from the point of ideation to live deployment and experience every step of the journey between.
Consoles are complex pieces of equipment with a component count often in excess of 2000 parts. The complexity lives in the mechanical nature (to support ergonomics), cable management and heavy considerations for aftercare support.
Experience working with Tier 1 projects/clients will be seen as an advantage with a strong knowledge in not only the tools of trade but also the paper process (revisions, document control and industry standards etc) that surround it to complete the job.
YOUR BACKGROUNDThe successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a strong technical capability in SolidWorks and a high level of technical fluency in AutoCAD. Experience in interpreting standards (ISO, AS/NZS, company level, etc) and translating them into design is highly advantageous. Prior experience with ISO9001 compliant system is advantageous but not required.
High attention to detail, thorough working methods and good self-organisation are important qualities for the position.
This role will be responsible for taking our existing module designs and right sizing them to different operating environments in which we deploy, all within a continuous improvement loop. The job starts with requirements gathering, through to design sign off for execution, liaising and purchasing with our established ecosystem of suppliers and manufacturing partners and finishes with assembly and deployment.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Create detailed 3D models for consoles and technical furniture using SolidWorks
- Create and manage drawings with SolidWorks and AutoCAD
- Generate BOM lists and purchase orders from design drawing and models
- Support the senior design team in work-pack outputs
- Work closely with consulting and manufacture team to ensure designs are fit for purpose, ergonomic and easy supported across a 10+ year lifespan.
- Ensure your designs meet project requirements from a documentation and document control perspective
- Tertiary educational qualification in Mechanical Drafting, Engineering or related field
- Strong technical capability in SolidWorks and AutoCAD
- Strong grasp of Excel
- Excellent visual and written communicator
- Desire to make a difference, communicate effectively with different stakeholders and thrive in a dynamic work environment
- Be able to work under direction from supervisor/team or autonomously
- Experience working to ISO 9001 or similar QMS
- Exposure to other 2D and 3D CAD software (Microstation, Unreal Engine, Navisworks, Revit)
- Ability to forward plan and meet commitments
- Australian Citizenship is desirable, due to potential Defence related work and associated clearance requirements.
