Position - Unaccredaited Trainee - Addiction Medicine
Location - Illawarra / Shoalhaven - Wollongong Hospital.
Salary - As per NSW State Award
We have partnered wiith Illawarra/ Shaolahaven Health Distrrict assisting to fill their Junior Medcal Officer positions in Addiction Medicine. The Unaccrediated Trainee Positions are primarrily based out of Wollongong Hospital.
Wollongong is a coastal city in Australia, south of Sydney along the Grand Pacific Drive. Surfing beaches and rock pools line the coastline. Trails encircle the forests and rocky cliffs of Mt. Keira in the Illawarra mountain range, which frames the city. To the north, hang gliders launch from Bald Hill. South lie the Buddhist temple of Nan Tien and Lake Illawarra, a large lagoon with boating and fishing facilities.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
* Accurate notes in the patient's medical record including regular progress notes
* Arranging theatre and procedural lists as required.
Communicating and co-ordinating effectively with nursing and other staff in regard to management plans,
diagnostic requests and consultations.
* Regularly reviewing patients to ensure the management is carried out and outcome assessed.
* Ensure that review of all Pathology, Radiology and other diagnostic reports is undertaken and advising
the AMO of relevant results.
* Communicating any significant change in the patient's condition to the AMO and undertake appropriate
action.
* Ensure that all admissions, changes in clinical condition and deaths of patients are notified to the AMO.
* Ensure ongoing support and information to the patient and family (where appropriate).
* Ensure liaison occurs with the General Practitioner (or other primary care personnel).
* Conduct & facilitate relevant education & training within the service.
* Participate in the Drug and Alcohol Service quality management programs & identify issues that may
require policy development or review.
* Maintain knowledge of and participate in approved & appropriate clinical equipment & procedural trials,
providing feedback where necessary.
* Participate in and/or support approved research programs.
* Participate in the after hours roster as required.
* Practice the IIMS model of incident monitoring and reporting and participate in associated clinical
reviews.
* Understand & participate in the accreditation processes within the ISLHD.
* Compliance with ISLHD's OH&S requirements, Code of Conduct and core competency standards.
* Other duties as required, relevant to the classification.
SELECTION CRITERIA
MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
Minimum two years post graduate experience
