Junior, Mid-level and Senior Systems Engineers

Cogito Group is a growing cyber security company that specialises in Authentication Services. We work in a fast-paced environment, using and developing cutting edge technologies to deliver next-generation solutions to government and commercial organisations. Cogito is looking to expand and is seeking junior, mid-level and Senior candidates with the right ability, attitude and aptitude.
These roles are a perfect fit for people with solid experience in ICT infrastructure as a systems engineer and systems administrator, who want a great deal of variety in the type of work that they will do.
Cogito Group operates a DevOps model, but these roles are specifically operationally based with a vast array of variety in the work involving the administration of Microsoft and Linux server environments, databases, storage area networks, firewalls, switches, and routers.
Successful candidates will be working in a small team to support and maintain a well-established ICT infrastructure. Candidates are also required to provide 3rd level support to other clients within the organisation. From time to time candidates will perform system upgrade and improvements to existing capabilities. There is an on-call element to these roles on a roster basis.
Onsite training is provided but successful candidates are expected to be self-starters and also have the ability for self-learning.
Specifically, you will:
- Support and maintain all elements of ICT infrastructure
- Follow ITIL based change management processes
- Provide incident management support
- Mentor DevOps staff on systems administration
- Report to senior management on project milestones
- Research and evaluate products and services
- Provide system design and integration
- Maintain and support existing systems
- Install, upgrade and support open source and specialised commercial software packages
- Support the configuration and administration of high and low bandwidth computing networks
- Maintain user and system documentation
- Provide innovative solutions and 3rd level support.
Essential requirements, skills and experience:
- ICT operations and systems administration experience
- Practical hands-on knowledge
- Demonstratable knowledge of systems administration in at least six of the following areas:
- Microsoft Servers
- Microsoft Active Directory
- Linux/Unix Servers
- Virtualisation
- Backup Infrastructure
- SANs
- Database Administration
- Firewalls
- Networking protocols
- Networking devices (switches/routers, etc.)
- AWS/Azure and cloud platforms
- End-point security
- Automated Deployment tools
- Have a strong work ethic
- Be a self-starter
- Have strong aptitude and willingness to learn new skills
- Demonstrate initiative for solving problems
- Have the ability to co-ordinate others as well as work individually
- Be delivery focused
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Have Australian citizenship
- Have the ability to obtain a high-level security clearance.
Highly desirable but not essential requirements, skills and experience:
- Experience in programming or scripting languages
- Experience of deploying and maintaining system monitoring
- Experience of deploying and orchestration solutions
- Previous experience in PKI and Identity Management not necessary but highly regarded
- Previous team management experience highly regarded
- Existing security clearance highly regarded.
Qualifications / Experience requirements:
- Diploma/Degree in Computer Systems Engineering (or a related discipline), or equivalent work experience.
- Industry certifications such as MCSW or CCNE highly regarded but not essential.
- Australian citizenship is mandatory for this position, and you must undertake and maintain a security clearance during employment.
- Candidates with current Australian security clearance will also be preferred.
