Job description
As a member of our Engineering Team, reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will take ownership of the electrical and mechanical design function for multiple C&I solar and battery projects.
Responsibilities
- Design of solar grid connection applications
- Design of DC electrical systems, including PV module string design, DC cable selection, inverter DC input analysis and selection of protection devices
- Design of AC electrical systems, including voltage drop/rise calculations, AC cable selection and protection devices
- Mechanical design using different racking systems to suit roof profiles and structures
- Design cable management systems and inverter stations
- Produce mechanical and electrical drawings using CAD
- Generate Bill of Materials
- Communication with project management team, electricians, and external engineering consultants
- Complete site-surveys to verify electrical infrastructure and installation plans
Position Prerequisites
- CEC Grid Connected PV Design Accreditation
- Experience working in the Australian C&I solar sector
- Electrical Engineering qualifications
Ideal Candidate
- Fluent in AutoCAD and PVSyst
- Solid understanding of PV System components, Engineering, and operations
- Knowledge of DNSPs grid protection requirements and electrical specifications
- Good knowledge of AS3000, AS3008, AS4777, AS5033, CEC guidelines and other relevant standards and frameworks
- Attention to details and willing to learn
- Time management and organisational skills
- Passionate about renewable energy and the environment
